Protein Question- Again, please help!
OK, I posted a question about this yesterday and only got one response. (thanks gubbernut!) I bought the Generic K-Pac from Sally's and my hair responded really well. Although it is very heavy and I'm not sure I should continue using it every day. What other high-protein conditioners can you suggest? How often should I use them? My current daily conditioner and leave in is Tigi MM, which I love. It has some protein in it, but it is pretty balanced. Suggestions, please!

I don't think you should use it every day. (maybe once a week) Use a condish that has some protein in it. Hope this helps (I only do a protein DT now and again).

Personally, I like the Nexxus Protein treatments, no mineral oil.
Nexxus Protein Treatments
I wouldn't do the K-Pak a lot, or you might have some issues with it. You definitely shouldn't use it everyday! Maybe once or twice a week with a good DT until your hair "tells" you it's enough (my hair gets a little "hard" after protein treatment.) The two protein conditioners I can think of off the top of my head are the Kenra Moisturizing and the AO GPB (I think those are the initials.) I don't use the AO conditioners in the summer, too heavy. Only twice a week in the winter.

with these protein treatments like k-pak, should we follow with a moisturizing conditioner or DT, then? it sounds like we need to balance one with the other, but i'm unclear on what would actually take place, logistically, when one does a protein treatment. :-) like, does this sound accurate:
1) low-poo or co-wash
2) apply protein treatment, following instructions
3) rinse out
4) apply moisturizing conditioner
5) rinse out (or leave in if you do that)
6) usual styling routine?
thanks!

Answered you on another thread. I don't "wash" unless it's a soap bar day for me. I don't use products that would build up. You need to add your moisturizing DT as step 4. I skip a rinse out if I do a moisturizing DT. Then, style as usual.

I guess what I can't figure out is if the Generic K Pac is a protein DT, or simply a conditioner with protein?
Also, what does AO GPB stand for? (I know the Aubrey Organics part, just the GPB)
Thanks!

When I use the GVP k pak I don't use another conditioner after it. I haven't had any trouble with it. I think it's just a protein heavy conditioner. I've used it three days in a row now with no problems. But my hair is really in need of some protein (apparently).

Aubrey Organics GPB is the real name, it stands for Glycogen Protein Balancing Conditioner.
I always thought the K-Pak was a reconstructor (aka protein treatment,) but on bottle they show on the website it says reconstructor conditioner. The website had the directions, "Apply to damp hair and massage. Comb through and style as usual." Leads me to believe it's a protein heavy conditioner and not a protein treatment like the Nexxus Aloxxi products which have you rinse after 10 minutes and condition.

Thanks guys!
Also I saw on another thread that Giovanni Direct is protein heavy. I have had a bottle of that for awhile and have never tried it, I may have to give it a try.
