Is anyone else not able to use a thin conditioner for cowashing?

At the moment, I'm using Kenra Moisture for a Co-wash. I then rinse it out and re-apply and leave it in for like 20 minutes. I didn't want to use so much of this conditioner because I can only find it in one store and it's in the big mall a little while away... so anyway I thought I'd try to use Suave naturals Coconut (to match the coconut-y smell of the Kenra) and I took about a palmful of it and started to rub it into my hair. The minute it touched my hair, however, it felt like it had absorbed into my hair. Does that make sense? Like I had put a LOT in there, and when I started to massage it around it was like it was all gone already.
I'm mostly a 3b-c, with a bit of everything else thrown in.
I'm 17 years old.
SL when dry.
I'm kind of CG (occasional sulphate)

Wash: Miss Jessie's Creme de la Curl Cleansing Creme, Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner, Occasional LowPoo grabbed from a drugstore or Biotera Moisturizing Shampoo (for BAD buildup)
Condition: Kenra, AOHR, Queen Helene's Cholesterol, Biolage Conditioning Balm, Generic KPak
ALWAYS Biotera Styling Gel
Haven't found a leave-in I like yet
I think its a personal preference I know Whatsercurl uses kenra as a co-wash. I like using kenra when I co-wash because it rinses so clean. The suave feels like it leaves a build up to me.

I have had the same feeling of a product disappearing into my hair, but it doesn't bother me. It always rinses out well, and the products I buy are super cheap, so it doesn't matter if I use a lot.
If the product is sinking in like that, then it may mean your hair is needing lots of moisture. I personally like a richer co-wash because I feel it moisturizes as well as cleans. I have heard of some curlies adding EVOO to lighter Cos like Suave and VO5 to make them more rich. I thought this was a brilliant idea. You can try that if you don't want to spend lots of money on Cos.

I'm am afraid though to add OO to my co because I don't know how that would rinse out....I get the feeling it wouldn't.

To me, if conditioner I'm using seems to soak into my hair and disappear immediately, I have to think there must be something in that condish that my hair really needs. If the magically disappearing condish has a lot of aloe in it, perhaps I should be doing a moisture treatment. If the co-wash had a lot of protein in it, perhaps I need to do a protein treatment, etc.

I'm not sure I'd be thinking in terms of a heavier co-wash because, that would tend to just coat the hair in oils that would prevent the hair from absorbing what it apparently needs. What I'm assuming though is that what you mean by "heavier" is actually more oils and butters in the condish, as opposed to more moisturizing ingredients.
co-wash - Suave Naturals Coconut
condish - Trader Joe's TTT and Refresh
styling - FOTE, shea butter, jojoba oil, LA Looks

Kryptonite: Stearalkonium Chloride, quats
I did not like Jessicurl Aloeba because I thought it was too light. It felt like it didn't moisturize my hair, and it felt like I didn't use a conditioner at all. I am liking Avalon Organics Olive and Grapeseed Conditioner, and I also like Jessicurl Too Shea and Sally's GVP. With these "heavier"/"richer" conditioners, I don't feel like I need a leave in and I feel like my hair is moisturized. HTH...

Future Wave, how do you use the Vaseline Aloe Gel? Do you scrunch it in when wet? Smooth it on when dry? Anything on top of it? I'm intrigued.
