help...I have build up and it's so itchy

Please believe me, I've done searches on an itchy scalp, but I am still confused . I finally bought a clarifying poo by Pantene with absolutely no cones, used it yesterday and made sure it stayed on for about 5 minutes. Then used KCKT as a rinse out, put my hair up in a t-shirt then used CK and CCSS. I have co-washed with Suave Coconut and low-pooed with Avalon Organics Lavendar, but my scalp was going crazy. My head is STILL itchy after clarifying and there is still white stuff under my nails, ew . Does this sound familiar to anyone? What do you think would cause this and why isn't the clarifying poo helping? Sorry if you are tired of people asking the same stupid questions...but my scalp will personally send you a thank you card!

I very often get the "white stuff under nails" issue, even with using shampoo regularly. I've found that doing a sugar scrub takes most of it away. You could try that
3a in Paris
I use:
Garnier Ultra Doux conditioners
High in glycerin conditioners
As much gel as possible
Testing out flax seed gel
Plopping, for around 30 minutes
Pixiecurl drying
Pineappling

You may want to use something with Tea Tree Oil. That can help itchy scalp. Make sure to scrub your scalp well with the pads of your fingers.

The white stuff is definitely buildup and it can come from your products and or hard water. If any of your products have good cones in them, they may not be washing away with just the co-wash. Some people have problems even with the good cones. If your water is hard it can leave deposits on your hair. You can check your shower head and see if there is a white film on it.

Often you need to clarify more than once to see an effect. Just beware that the pantene does have harsh sulfates so it will dry your hair out. You many want to super moisturize after you do the clarifying wash.

The itchy scalp is definitely related to the buildup. You may want to make a tea with lavender and chamomile, making sure to let the herbs sit in the water for at least 1 hour. Use it to rinse your hair. These herbs are known to soothe and relieve itchy scalp. This herbal tonic may be stronger than the avalon poo you are using.

have you been using CK and CCSS all along and never had a problem before? I know some have had allergic itchy reaction to CK. I've had that happen to me when using CK, it doesn't play nice on my head with certain things. I would also try a brown sugar scrub if the Sulphate Poo didn't do the trick. I'm sorry, I hate build up and have had itchy scalp many times it's no fun I've always liked the way Deva No Poo feels on my scalp because it makes it tingle and feels really clean because of the Peppermint oil which I imagine feels similar to Tea Tree oil. I like to mix Deva No Poo for brown sugar scrubs, it feels really good! I use equal parts of Br sugar to No Poo. You could certainly do this with another conditioner as well.

Yeah the itchy scalp is def. related to the build up. So far I haven't got the hang of cowashing, even with friction I can't get the white stuff off. I have to clarify with a sulfate shampoo. But I would love to look into the sugar scrub everyone is mentioning. Also I have heard bentonite clay is a good all natural clarifier.

For the itching, Apple Cider Vinegar rinses are great for me.

I have been using CK and CCSS since mid July, and things have been fine up until a week or so ago...Now I am doing damage to my poor scalp with all of this scratching! I'll let you know how it goes...

Thank you for your help Belasuna, the shower head didn't look to have any white residue on it.
I have the chamomile tea, but will need to go and get the lavender tea, how much water are we talking, enough to fill a dutch oven would be a good rinse, or do you just mean a mug full, I am not trying to be funny, I just want to do it right, my skin feels like it's crawling so I am game for anything right now!
Now that I think about how long I've had this problem, it started shortly after I got my hair colored at the salon!!! How long can it take to get rid of the cones and crap that were used close to 2 weeks ago?
Thanks again

Why does my head itch?

KinkyKeeper read my mind. You may be having an allergic reaction. Try stop using the CK and CSCC for a while and see what happens.

As far as the herbal tea, 1 cup should do nicely. It has to be strong. You can also add a few drops of the tea tree oil Kathy mentioned. Massage it into your scalp.

I JUST got out of the shower though, I was so itchy I just couldn't wait til the a.m. to try the brown sugar scrub! I mixed it with Giovanni Tea Tree poo. I scrubbed and scrubbed with the pads of my fingers and I let it sit on my head while I did everything else, it did feel soothing in the shower, but I am STILL scratching my head while I'm typing this.
There is definitely LESS "stuff" under my nails, ew, at the moment, so that means it helped, right? Hopefully it will only get better after the next time? Or does it sound like the allergic reaction to color theory? Was I supposed to use my finger nails to get rid of the builup? Gosh, I'm itchy, darn it.
(Next time, I am bringing MY products for the stylist to use, if she thinks I'm crazy then I'll go somewhere else!)
