Can you be more specific about which Pantene. Alot of their shampoos are Pro-V. The problem is probably this shampoo but we won't know for sure until we know exactly which one. The Pantene shampoos have sulfates which dry your hair and scalp. Plus they can cause buildup. All of this contributes to dry itchy scalp. Pantene is not really CG. You should think about going CG.

Sulfates in shampoo cause dry, itchy, flakey scalp. Sulfates in body wash cause itchy skin. This is because your body's natural oils are being stripped away. Stop using sulfates, and the itchiness usually goes away. Read the Newbies and Going Shampooless sections for more info.

If by dryness you mean flakes it sounds like you have dandruff, which needs medication.

However, apple cider vinegar rinses keeps mine in check. I am also looking into ayurvedic herbs that have anti bacterial properties like amla, henna and neem.
