Curls and clothing

Wondering how you guys feel about how your hair and your sense of style work together? I think for a lot of people this is probably never an issue/not something noticed.

One of the reasons I loosen my 3b curls is that I think that look goes better with more of the outfits I wear than voluminous curly curls. I have some clothes (especially peasant tops) that in my mind look really cute with curls, but they're the exceptions. I'm particular about style (and yet broke, it's really conflicting) and sometimes it's like on one hand, I do like my hair all curly in and of itself, but on the other which is most of the time, my hair in its natural state isn't working with my outfit.

3B ■ Medium/Course ■ High Porosity
I wear everything from flip flops and shorts to evening wear and hit all points in between including business suits.

I straighten my hair about once every three or four months when I get coloured to see the "true" length and I only wear it up if it's too dirty to leave down.

Otherwise, I wear my hair down and curly. For me, changing my hair for the outfit would be kind of like changing another body part to suit the outfit. I guess I just feel my hair is part of who I am and don't think much about how it looks with my clothes. Not to mention it would be more work to change it.

My curl really depends more on the day of the week (wash vs cowash or nonwash day). I always wear my hair down and curly no matter if I'm in jeans or a nice dress. Work or play hair is the same for me. I think healthy, well tended curls are also appropriate and complimentary to any outfit.

For me there is definitely a connection between how my hair is styled and my outfit. Since I stopped straightening my hair, I deliberately bought rounder earrings. They seem to go particularly well with my curls and emphasize them. My favorite pair is a round circle, within a circle, within a circle. I could wear stick straight earrings with my curls but it looks kind of "geometric" to me. I also like dangly roundish earrings with my curls.

With my very corporate outfits which I bought while job seeking I straightened my hair even though I hate the buttoned up corporate look. I just couldn't take a chance on some curl hater deciding I looked unkempt with my curls. Now if I wear one of those suits (ugh) I keep my curls anyway, or do a roller set which smoothes them out somewhat but is still wavy/curly.
2/c-3a Coarse hair med. density.
Protein sensitive but can use occasionally
Highly porous. Color over grey.
I love all the Curl Junkie products and use CJ CCCL as my main styler. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....

I know people have to work but I don't think I'd want to work for someone who bases their opinions of my marketable skills on whether my hair was curly or not. That's just another form of discrimination.

With styling products...well I'm not liking the effect (tend to just get in there and loosen my curls)..need to find better products. Just happens to be that with outfits I gravitate towards stylistically, the character their supposed to have gets lost in the midst of the character my hair has. For some outfits it's completely complimentary but they're the exception.

For some reason, I feel much too dressy for school if I try to wear my hair down curly since I am normally pretty stylish. I just have to find the right way to wear it, since I STILL can't wear it down!
