Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database

I just found out about the Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database. It seems as though every single product I use has some form of a hazard in it (whether it's a hair product, body wash, or face product).

How much of a concern should this be? I feel as though I have to throw all my beauty products away and start anew. Ugh....

Does anyone know more about this? TIA.

It depends how much of a hazard it is. I used to be paranoid about this too but I just try to buy more natural products in the future. Nothing is perfect but I just stay away from products with a higher hazard level. if I already have it then i just use it up Don't worry too much but just look out for less hazardous products in the future thats what I do. xo

AlannahAngel,

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I agree with you, I don't want to get too worried about it. I guess most products out there are going to carry some type of hazard with them. I will just start looking around for safer ingredients while I use up what I already have.

I have one word for you. Eggs. Eggs were the perfect food. Then they said they might be linked to cancer. Then they said they were the perfect food. Same with peanut butter (not counting the contamination scares). Take it in stride and use your best judgement.

If you listened to everything you read or heard about food, you wouldn't be eating anything. You would be drinking only water, and probably a specific type of water.
Cleanser: Liquid Castile Soap diluted in a foaming soap dispenser
Rinse:
ACV rinse
Detangler/Conditioner:

Thanks for all your advice!!

I've stopped paying any attention to Skin Deep, as I keep reading about how their "testing" methods are flawed and that virtually everything carries some risk -- mostly what they do is scare people.

There are some good posts about this group here:

Thank you all so much for writing this. I, too discovered the Skin Deep website, and it's looking now like I overreacted to what I found there. I'm still planning to move toward a more natural routine, but thanks to your clarification, I'm no longer feeling like that's the only safe option. Everything in moderation and all that =)
