Thanks Multi! I hope you have a chance to go.
Rudeechick, I wish I could do pictures but I'm so lame at that. I'll have to talk to my with-it nephew.
What I liked about Carlos was that really knows curly hair and how to care for it. Everything he said about caring for curly hair made sense. But the haircut wasn't special. He just give me a trim on a bob haircut I already had. He didn't say I needed to grow it longer so that he could cut in a really great style, he just cut it. It was a very ordinary haircut, actually kind of dowdy. I was frankly very disappointed.
What I particularly liked about Tameeka was that she began by talking about my face shape which is kind of heart shaped and that I look better with hair that has width at the sides. That's right on target. She looked at my face a lot and played with the hair to see how it naturally curled. As soon as she began cutting (wet) I could see that she was giving me the right shape. It's like when you try on 5 dresses and one is just really right. You just know. No fuss, no drama, just competence all the way. She's the real deal. I think several NC.com people have been to her, and I read great reviews but her name may be spelled differently.
Your hair is much longer than mine, so maybe Carlos will be great for you. I really needed a shape that worked for me, not just how to care for my curls. A lot of people also love Ana at Devachan - I thought she was very sweet but the haircut did nothing for me either. For me, it's all about the shaping. Also, if you are strictly CG, the curlisto line at Christo Salon isn't for you. I frankly wouldn't have cared if she put ketchup on my head - this is the best haircut I've had in years.
2/c and some 3A. Modified CG.
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Experimenting with cones & sulfates while the dews are high. Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
