What type of hair do you have. A lot of curlies can't tolerate magnesium sulfate. I think this has to do with porosity. I have high porosity hair (as does curlypearl) and it seems we don't like MS.
Usually you avoid protein if you have coarse hair, low porosity, or non-elastic hair. Also your hair can max out on protein if you use too much of it.
As far as other products, that would depend on if you had coarse, normal or fine textured hair. If you have any damage or if your hair is dry by nature. A few of these facts might help. The type of product also depends on the dewpoints and climates in your area.
In general you can add moisture by using a leave-in before you put a gel in your hair. KCKT
is a good leave-in, and KCCC
is very moisturizing styling cream. GVP Conditioning Balm can also be used as a leave in and is very moisturizing. The gel will then seal in the moisture. If you use a moisturizing hair cream like KCCC
, well it does just that--moisturizes your hair as well as gives shine and shape to curls.
