Some quick questions.

My hair is still dry, btw. When I DT, it's soft for like a day then goes back to being dry.

Anyway, my hair never looks wet. When it's drenched, it drips but doesn't look wet (or so I'm told). I'm pretty sure that's not normal... ?
And how do you know if your hair doesn't like protein? So far, I've learned the SSM does about nothing, sleeping on a satin pillow case does almost nothing (I move around a lot), and oil just sits on top of my hair.. go figure.
I really have to figure a lot of stuff out before I go shopping again or else my mom will kill me.

Random note: I was reading this story/info page that was linked to NC, and OMG it cracked me up. It said "Asians have straight hair period." Ehmagosh, I was laughing so hard. Btw, my mom's Asian and she has gorgeous curly hair (and she doesn't do anything to it! what's up with that?). But, if I showed her it, she'd just tell me "I told you NC wasn't good!" :/ ~ but it was funny in the long run.

Not sure why you're using the Ponds Dry Skin Cream for you DT??? Have you checked the ingredients?? You can uses hand lotions, body butters--but you need to check the ingredients.

Water, Mineral Oil, Isopropyl Palmitate, Petrolatum, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Ceresin, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Oleate, Candelilla Wax, Triethanolamine, Laureth 23, Fragrance, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Methylparaben, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate

First ingredient is Mineral Oil (which some can use in a product) and third is Petrolatum (think Vasoline.) You're coating your hair with ingredients that prevent moisture from getting in. You may need to clarify to get the Petrolatum out. I have trouble with removing mineral oil, too. And start fresh.

I agree with kathymack...get rid of the Ponds! Clarify your hair and start over. For dt and leave in, I like GVP Conditioning Balm or for dt, the Lustrasilk Shea Butter. Both are from Sally's.

Good luck!

Oh, I don't DT with Ponds, lol. I'm using mostly BB right now.

I've just noticed this; my local Sally's must suck really badly. I can't find anything, at least last time I went.

I didn't mean to throw you off; I haven't really edited my siggy in.. a while due to internet issues..

Does Sally's actually have all these products? Because all I can find are stuff with cones in it.

I noticed that you're using the Costco conditioner. I'm assuming you're using the Kirkland Signature Hydrating? For what it's worth, I've been using that for the better part of the 5ish months I've been CG, and I'm finally realizing that it's simply not moisturizing my hair. I'm on the tightest of tight budgets, and you sure can't beat 80 oz for $7, but to me, it's not even worth buying if it won't do its job.

I'm currently experimenting with Sally's GVP Conditioning Balm and the Lustrasilk Shea Butter + Cholesterol, and those seem to be improving things already. I'm glad they're working, but then again, it's not a good sign that my hair is this much better in just a few days - the Costco stuff wasn't doing much at all.

I'd say, if you're still having moisture problems, give the Conditioning Balm I mentioned a try. It's more expensive, but it's within my budget. Plus, since it's much more hydrating, I'm using less of it. I'm finally realizing that putting in a little extra cash for a good conditioner will save me money (and make me happier!) in the long run. Good luck and keep us posted!

Yeah I hear you about the Kirkland; it wasn't that moisturizing. But let me tell you, there was no way my mom was going to let me get anything else until both bottles were completely gone.
I just bought Garnier Fructise Fortifying Triple Nutrition cream condish. The first thing I noticed was the consistency; it was runnier than I was used to. In the shower, after I co-washed and put it on, it felt like there wasn't enough (it might have been to the lack of slip). So I took a plastic bag, put on my head and tied it. I just took it out 'bout 10-15 minutes ago and my hair looked mangled and wet because of the bag. But when I went to wash the stuff out, I didn't feel much cream on my fingers.. it was as if my hair soaked it all up. Due to that, I quickly stepped out of the shower, looked at my hair and was amazed. My ringlets have never looked better, but my top was flat and loosing definition (hmmph).
So far, it seems like the condish is working.. maybe I should use it as a leave-in... its main ingredients are oils so it should work.. I think..
We'll see how long this lasts; my avatar pic is the one I just took after my rinse-out (which I found out, I didn't really need).

Apparently all asians are mostly straight haired. The curly haired ones possibly are carriers of curly haired european, middle eastern or african genes from way back in the day when they travelled to asian countries to trade with ( and perhaps attempt to conquer) them.
