I haven't got my sample yet either. I signed up and the owner emailed me about my sample. I got 2 (one for my daughter) and I asked her about the mask/DT and she said there is some protein in it towards the bottom.

Nicacurls is the only one I've seen who has tried it. Here's her post:

New Duchess of Curls Curl Enhancer

I can't wait or the sample. All the stuff looks so intriguing! I do see they were voted best of the best for organic but I didn't see much in the way of reviews for them. hmm.

Ooohh Rudee try it and tell us how you like it!!

Ordered mine yesterday too, had to sign up for the newsletter first though and it had an option about "Do you want a sample blah blah?" And I said yes please, but haven't received anything in the confirmation email about it. I hope to try it . It looks like it might leave me a stringy mess, but I'm open to trying anything once

I signed up weeks ago and got mine yesterday. Needed to have a great hair day today, so didn't want to take the chance of trying a new product. Will try to remember to use it tomorrow.

Unfortunately, all of her other products have castor oil, so this is the only thing I can buy.

Just signed up for a sample! And promptly took myself off the mailing list. I can always sign up again if I want to.

I think my hair mostly gets puffy from aloe, but like others have said, heck, I'll try anything (not potentially fatal) once! Has anyone figured out whether it's a humectant or not yet, BTW? It's been all over the place, classification-wise.
OMG, LOOK!!

...It's a siggie.
Used my Duchess of Curls today. I smells like lavender--very nice. Used Komaza Coconut Hair Milk as my rinse out, shescentit Coco Creme LI, the Duchess of Curls and Aquage Defining Gel. No crunch, beautiful curls with lots of volume--I had a little frizz, so I smoothed on some KC Spiral Spritz. Makes me sorry that all her other products have castor oil in them.

I received my sample and tried it. Since it was the weekend, I used it per Raiquel's instructions as a gel. Used CJ Rehab as my rinse- out, Eufora LI and then applied the Duchess of Curls into wet hair. Scrunched it in well, then scrunched gently with my Curls Like Us towel and applied a bit more. I have soft, well-defined curls with a bit of frizz. Lots of shine and absolutely no product feel. We'll see how it holds through the day. I will definitely keep experimenting with the product. I think it has potential.

Just some additional information - Raiquel has been very friendly and helpful. Thought it might help to pass along her email information on using it.

The product is safe for color treated hair. It’s best to detangle your hair first in the shower and then apply the product to wet hair. The product works better with the water/moisture already in your hair, so damp/wet hair is ideal. I would towel dry if your hair is good at retaining moisture, but it totally depends on the structure of your curl pattern.

For example, for 3b/3c curls, the product works better on very wet hair, without towel drying, because sometimes the towel can strip moisture. Then the hair cuticles will not be as smooth and will become dry (which could lead to frizz).

But for 3a hair, if you want to apply the product after towel drying, I’d recommend to lightly pat and towel dry your hair downwards to keep your cuticles smooth.
