Dunno if this helps, Rudee, but my mom and grandma both recently had procedures (grandma had surgery - knee replacement) that they were really worried about. I spent lots of time teasing them about the great drugs they'd be getting during their recovery, and that seemed to often snap them out of whatever funk they were in.

So sorry to hear about your mom. I've had a few patients that have had this procedure and they came through it just fine. It's tough when your "mom" is facing a medical problem. My mom is elderly and had bladder cancer surgery twice in the past 6 years, so I can imagine your worry and concern. Hope all goes well. Take care.

Thanks for the Feedback re the surgery Angel29; every bit of info like that I get helps me feel that much closer to better about it. And yes, I hate (am actually angry - at who? no clue) that my Mom has to deal with this. I am trying to focus on the fact that it could be far worse.

Good luck. I really need mine cut but I keep putting it off, I haven't had it cut since June and it's totally lost it's shape but it's now a length I like, so I'm too scared to go in case he cuts it too short again. Such a chicken!
Hope all goes well.

I FINALLY made it into NYC to get my cut with Carlos!

He is a doll; "regular" as we would call it in my house - which is the highest compliment you can get from us! Regular and real and nice.

He gave me some great tips before he even started cutting - particularly clipping to revive 2nd day hair (a revelation for me). Plus he taught me how to clip when wet for crown lift.

The cut itself was subtle; he kept my overall length but tweeked the long layers I had that werent making the most of my texture. Right now it looks like Hair Ad hair - but we will see what happens when I do it myself.

The biggest revelation was his redirection of how I physically handle it; in short, according to Carlos I have been totally over-babying my hair. He showed me that, for hair as thick and curly as mine, it needs rougher handling (raking product, vigorous scrunching with hands and towel, etc). It goes against everything I have ever done to control my volume!! He says the key is leaving enough of my rinse out behind (or, I assume, enough Leave in), scrunch scrunch scrunch with my towel and THEN scrunch scrunch scrunch my gel in. Then he dried it for about 15 minutes under the dryer and THEN he had me throw my head upside down and scrunched and diffused the ends a bit. HE WAS TOUCHING MY WET HAIR AND IT DIDNT EXPLODE!!!! I left there slightly damp and it hasnt poofed up yet!

Theres more, but I gotta go do the mommy thing. Will post pics later!
