Exclamation Started cg yesterday.. interesting results!

I started cg yesterday, properly! I have been lurking for about a year! I took the plunge no sulfates no cones..

1st day with washing hair without these things.. I did the last sulfate wash and then the next day did a co wash .. My hair is 10 billions times softer BUT all my curl definition is gone I have curls in the front like 3b, 2a in the middle and 3a at the back, My hair is usually 3b leaning towards 3c.

My question is will my curl definition get better? Or is cg not meant for me.. Is this what it does to curl patterns? My hair is very thick and I have a lot of it!

Your curl definition will generally get better. Normally there's a bit of an adjustment period when starting CG - your hair is wondering where its cones are, why it's not being dried out constantly, and that has different results for everyone (mine was greasy frizz). I suspect that the lack of curl definition is just the adjustment, but if it doesn't improve, then you may need to start playing with products and ingredients. Some of us find we are sensitive to certain ingredients which, when not using sulfates, can dramatically effect curl patterns.

are you using any styling products? and are you leaving in some of your conditioner as a leave in, or any other leave in?
it does take about a month for your hair to adjust to the cg method.

I find mine does that as well, particularly if it's middling humid out and I used conditioner with glycerin or honey in it. :-)

Do you know your hair's porosity and texture? That can help finding styling products. also - what products have you tried thus far?
