Suave, what have you done?!

OK, so about a couple of months ago I started feeling a bit of build up in my hair. I'm CG, and I ran out of my Suave daily clarifying shampoo, so I went to get more. When I got to the store, I saw that the bottle looked different, but thought nothing of it and purchased it anyway.

After a while of using it, I still had build up so I took a look at the ingredients. I guess they've changed the formula and now there's a Peg Dimethicone in it!!! UGH!!! WHY?!

So now I need a cheap alternative to finally get rid of this build up! I don't mind there being lauryl sulfate in it, I just need something I can use every once in a while if I feel my hair is being gunky.

Please help!

Thanks!

Boy, it really depends on the gel (and the weather, and the position of the stars, and what kind of mischief Britney Spears has gotten into).

I don't think my hair likes it. I've been avoiding cones altogether for the past year and a half and my hair has been fine up to this point!

You don't need sulfate shampoo to rid your hair of build-up A normal low-poo will do the job, if you gently massage your hair with it under running water.

I agree with LazyLoops...I don't think a CG curly girl should be messin' around with sulfate shampoo! There are plenty of nice low-poos. If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, you should try one of their shampoos...TJ Refresh, or TJ Nourish. And Giovanni shampoos are available at Target...they don't have sulfates either.

Good luck!

Mmm...yes, perhaps. Though don't get me wrong, I rarely used the shampoo on my hair (I used it more to shave my legs! lol), but I guess there probably are better alternatives. I think I've just been trying to not to get into a big PJ like I was when I first started so I've been leaning against trying new things.

But more on topic, doesn't Giovanni have a Tea Tree Shampoo? I hear that feels great on the scalp.

I would definitely get it if I did occasional low-poos, but they just really dry my hair out (yeah...we're talking the shampoos WITHOUT sulfates). My hair hates them, basically.

Try it!

The Giovanni TTT shampoo is great. I bought some Giovanni Wheat Shampoo at Marshall's (haven't seen it elsewhere..may be being discontinued) and that stuff is seriously STRONG. I found it MUCH more stripping on my hair than any sulfate shampoo I've used.

The Trader Joe's knockoff of the GTTTT Shampoo is fine as well and that is actually the one I use most frequently when I need to shampoo for some reason (for me it's the EVIL Polyquat 11 but I love some of the products with this in it!).

I also use (on my son) the Healthy Sexy Hair Chocolate Soymilk shampoo that is sulfate free. It is also stronger for a non sulfate shampoo but would work good for clarifiying IMHO.

That ingredient has been in that shampoo for the past several years -- maybe it's something else your hair is not liking.
