Why does CG work for some people and not others?

My twin sister uses all the 'cones and sulfates in the world and still has great hair. She even shampoos every single day and uses the diffuser too. Her hair is about 2 or 3 inches shorter than mine. I have been CG for about 3 months, and our hair looks the same! Why can she get away with putting all of that junk in her hair, when 'cones basically murder my hair?

I ask this question about my guy friends. They use like, any shampoo and condish that smells good. They wash it every day, don't plop or anything, no styling product or leave-in, and they get these gorgeous, soft, touchable curls.

Sulfates and cones touch my hair and I look like that electrocuted poodle from Open Season 2. What is this mess?

I guess it's simply the fact that everyone's hair is different. Like I've seen curlies here that are like "yay cones!" and their hair is mega beautiful (i'm shooting mental daggers at y'all, can you feel it?) and I've also seen people who say their CG experience was a disaster.

Maybe she has hair invincible to cones.. orr.. maybe her hair only /looks/ healthy. Yeah. I blew your mind there, huh. ... no? k. well.

CG (well.. modified..) has helped my hair, so I like it! I say don't worry about it, haha. Do what works for your hair, that's what she's doing! At least you have peace of mind, you know your hair is getting babied by all these nice ingredients Mother Nature set for us, and that it'll only get better from here!

And maybe, your hair will get even better as time goes on from being CG. Then this'll happen every day:

People: ".. Who is beneath that mass of perfect, sensuous spirals and romantic ringlets.. is it the return of Aphrodite?!" You: [Spins around in slow-mo with dreamy music and glitter all about] "Pardon?"
People: "oh, it's DoubleCurls (or your real name, lmao)! .. Even better, yaaaay!"

True story.

I am not sure why the cones would effect your hair differently than hers. My sister is the same, she uses regular sulfate and cone products and she has great hair, but I love the idea that I don't have to put all that "crap" in my hair to make it look great.

To be honest, I could probably use sulfates and cones and still have great hair. My hair looked good before I went CG. It's really been the styling techniques that have made the biggest difference for me. The reason I continue with CG is mainly for the peace of mind knowing that I am using natural products and not perpetuating the cycle that the beauty industry wants us to be caught up in (mainly, buy more products to counteract the effects of other products). You probably spend a lot less money than she does.

Thanks, guys! That made me feel a whooooole lot better
