Tangles are making me crazy, please help!

For some reason, the back of my hair (at the nape of my neck) tangles so easily, even without product in it, and I don't know what to do! It's usually worse on non-shampoo days but lately it seems like no matter what I get a tangled, knotty mess back there. My hair is a few inches below my shoulders, 3a/b, well-moisturized and cared for. I only use 2 styling products (GVP Potion 9 and Alterna Hemp Texturizing Glaze), and condition with GVP Balm. I recently tried Paul Mitchell's The Detangler but it didn't work either. Does anyone have any tips, tricks, suggestions?

Thanks!

Try using a conditioner containing behentrimonium methosulfate. Jessicurl WDT and Curl Junkie Curl Rehab are two good ones.

Have you ever done a protein treatment?? Bad tangles is just one way my protein hungry hair tells me it's time for a treatment. Lack of life and sproing is the other big sign for me

When I first started cg this was a major problem for me.

I found that if i rinse my hair upside down in the shower it really makes it bad, also have you tried an acv rinse, this really helped me.

This is what I found as well. I rinse upside-down, and while the rest of my hair was moisturized, I was missing a small section on my nape. So it got dry and tangled very easily. Making it a point to apply a leave-in there and using ACV rinses every so often helped a lot.

I make sure to put leave-in there. It really helps.

Thanks all! This weekend and today I made sure i extra conditioned my tangled areas and am now rinsing and applying product right-side up. So far, so good! Any suggestions for a cheap, effective protein treatment for my hair type (see sig.)? I've never done one before....

This is exactly what happens to me. I really like Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner; they also have a DT. It is fairly inexpensive. Aubrey's Organics GDP is also good.
