How to refresh your curls??

I'm really happy with the combo of products I use and get great curls...however, I've tried several things to refresh them at the end of the day or to get 2nd day hair and usually doesn't turn out that well..Any suggestions?

I've tried Jessicurl products and do NOT like it at all. All I get is frizz...
3a, med texture, normal porosity

Co-wash: V05 Vanilla Tea Mint
Rinse out: GF triple nutrition
Leave in: Don't need it
Style: LA Looks Sport Gel, HE gel ( like it but not strong enough), AG recoil
I've developed a great routine for 2nd and 3rd day curls: I scrunch with some water, then scrunch in some Komaza curl pudding & a little gel (AOMM or HESMU) + AVG. Get great curl definition, little to no frizz, and volume. HTH!

I don't use a satin pillowcase, but I plan to get one. For now, I just use a cheap, somewhat soft cotton t-shirt over my regular pillow like a pillowcase. But for even better results, use a satin nightcap or satin pillowcase with it.

To refresh either at the end of the day or for 2nd day curls, I like to dilute some Lustrasilk Olive Oil Cholesterol Leave-in (this works with any conditioner..V05/Suave works too) into an empty spray bottle. Maybe about a teaspoon of conditioner (just eyeball it). It's kind of hard to get it in, but a funnel will work really well if you have one.

Then fill it up about a 1/4 or 1/3 of the way with water, make sure it's closed tightly, and shake, shake, shake until fully blended.

Spray some into your curls, a little bit at a time. Hold your arm as far away as your hair as you can...sometimes spraying to close with result in only spraying in one place. Here, you need fine mist to distribute it properly.

Anyway, spray a little at a time, and then scrunch it gently into your curls. Spray a little more--scrunch into your curls. Adjust it to your liking.

That's what I do...and I love it! I also spray into my hand and smooth it over frizzies.

And to finish it off I like to get a touch of EcoStyler gel, run my hands under water, and smooth over surface frizz with it. And voila! I'm done.

I hope that works for you Good luck.

I currently use CJ Aloe Fix and was loving it, but lately it is leaving my hair dry and crunchy and it turns frizzy again pretty fast after I put it in. I would love to try something different to get rid of frizz from the day before.

Anyway, I ended up with very curly curls (3c ish) which was okay, but had some canopy frizz that I couldn't get rid of. I didn't worry about it because I was going to a football game and then a hockey game. Just can't seem to get the 2nd day hair figured out. How do you get the frizz under control?

I used to love Botanical Boost. I think I need to revisit it. It's been about 3-4 years since I last used it.

Pineappling and silk pillowcase has made a huge difference for me. I still don't get second day hair as often as I like, but it is getting better the longer my hair gets.

I really like Oyin's Whipped Pudding. I am using it more and more often. I love it to SOTC - can even get away with using it on damp hair. I use it during the day and have also used it on 2nd day hair with some success.

I have also found that by scrunching something in my hair before bed (once it is pulled up in a pineapple) has helped. I like Darcy's Botanicals Peach Kernel cream. It isn't too heavy. I scrunch some in before bed. It seems to help prevent the frizz ... and it smells really nice. It isn't too strong that it gives me a headache. Once I have it in my hair, the smell fades quickly.
Type: 3a fine & dense, with normal porosity, terrible product junkie
ROUTINE: LI, enhancer, gel, plop with Curlease towel, serum product (either CIAB or Gel-les'c), clip & diffuse.
Too many favourite products to list ... I finally have my routine that works and alot of products to choose from. My product stash is huge, but well loved !!!
I have the same texture and porosity as the OP. This is what I've been doing. I have a small spray bottle with 2/3 water and 1/3 FOTE AVG. I spray all around then spray SMU spray gel over that, scrunch and let air dry. It works pretty well for 2nd day hair, and I've gotten 3 days out of it once, if the dewpoints are good.
I do something similar as mamakathy. I very lightly wet my hair (sort of smooth really wet hands over hair) then scrunch in either AVG (the only purpose I can create for this, otherwise it dries me out big time) or AOMM.

I let dry and SOTC. AVG always leaves more crunch than AOMM, but after that the results are pretty equal. I'll probably repurchase AOMM (if either at all) because less SOTC = less frizz and broken up curls.

PS. I also sleep in a satin cap if I expect multiple day hair.

Can I ask the people who mist their hair with water to refresh it to clarify something?

Are you just misting the outside layer of the hair? Or lifting up parts to try to mist each hair?

If I mist my hair almost all of it stays completely dry, only the very outside gets a little bit wet. Is this what you mean by misting?

Henna!
I lift the top layer and mist, then mist the top layer, then scrunch gently to work the dampness around (I have a little conditioner in the spray bottle mixed with water). I may spray a little gel on, too, but sometimes that makes it a little too crunchy the second day.

I pineappled the other night and didn't have to do anything to my hair the next day, though! I think that's pretty "hit or miss", though. Sometimes you just get lucky!

2b/c - medium porosity, texture and density

Co-wash - Suave Lavendar Lilac

Because of the length of my hair (between chin and shoulder), when I take my hair out of the pineapple, it looks pretty good except for some surface frizz and the bottom layer of curls being stretched out. So when I mist, I spray all around the outer layers, paying special attention to the area around my face, and then I spray around the bottom of the length, where the curls have been stretched out. Having said this, you need to know that I have very thick hair. In order to get it all damp, I would have to get under the shower. The good side to this, though, is that if I can get the top layer to curl and the bottom to re-curl, it doesn't really matter what's going on in the layer closest to my head. Hope that makes sense!
