Question about rinsing. Do you just barely rinse (leaving some condish in) or are you rinsing it clean?

Oh! I meant to add a very weird thing I noticed. So I used to get the flash drying from FOTE that made me think I couldn't use aloe on my hair. Or that I at least couldn't use FOTE. So I put the FOTE to the side since I like it for cosmetic use too. Well, several of my condishes and products have aloe in them, so tonight on a whim after using LOOC as a LI on already well-moisturized hair (DT'ed yesterday with Lustrasilk S/M) I added FOTE to my hair as a "gel" and guess what? NO flash drying! And my hair feels nice! How weird is that? Was the flash drying actually a symptom of my hair just drinking aloe that fast, instead of the possibility that my hair hated aloe?

ok...after reading all 13 pages of this thread yesterday I decided to give this a try this morning...when I first got up, I spritzed my hair until damp and applied YTT...I put on a shower cap, then let the dogs out, got my lunch ready, etc...I hopped in the shower, wet my hair briefly, and then used TJ TTT to co-wash my scalp only...I combed through, then rinsed everything out...applied a decent amount of LOOC as my LI, and AVG/HESMU as my stylers...

that being said, I don't know if I did something wrong? My hair isn't *horrible*, but it didn't turn out that great, either...not as good curl formation, especially underneath...and I had a TON of frizz, even in the shower! I'm wondering, though, if this could be due to the TJ TTT? I used this exact same product combo this past Sunday, only used Suave Daily Clarifying instead of the TJTTT, and I had a GREAT, curly hair day with little to no frizz...the only other difference I can see is dews were in the mid 30's on Sunday, and the mid teens today...hmmm....

I spritzed my hair until damp
maybe this has something to do with it. I have to spritz my hair until wet, but not dripping. For me, this is vital, if my hair is not wet enough before the conditioner, my hair will be terribly snarly and tangled. My hair has to be as wet as when I wash and then plop for about 10 minutes. Sometimes, I will even spritz more water to areas that seem too dry before the conditioner step....just an idea. I also saturate my hair with a lot of conditioner, my hair is pretty gloppy, then I clip it up for 20 mins or longer if I can and then follow the rest of the routine.

Is this thread a sticky? if not,can it be made one so that newbie's can find it?

I just think it's vital information that shouldn't be lost, it could save months or weeks of struggle and frustration for new members. I know it would have saved me almost a year of hair failure. It was like magic for me and my hair has responded so fast because I was doing it all wrong for so long. I just didn't know what I needed to do with my hair's texture & porosity.

I think it depends on your preference. I never liked leaving in condish, I'd rather rinse it all out completely then add a fresh dab of LI.

I doubt this would be made a sticky, a lot of information gets lost around here I wish they would organize it somehow....You can PM Gretchen about it, I've PM'd her in the past about other threads could be stickies but so far it's the Acronyms & that's it.

I tried this last week after reading the thread.

Before shower

I spritzed my hair as if it was Day 2 hair, smoothed on then scrunched in a couple quarter sized blobs of Curl Theory. (I actually could've let it dry and not done my hair at this point but decided to proceed with experiment.) I wet my hands a little and scrubbed the residue into my scalp. I let it sit for 5 min then started detangling with my Mebco comb. After detangling, I put it up in a clip and puttered around the house for about 30 min.

In shower

I wet the top of my head and co-washed with some more Curl Theory. Then hung upside down (HUD) and scrubbed my scalp some more. I flipped back up and did my other shower business. Once done, I HUD again, rinsing thoroughly and doing a second detangling with my Mebco, then scrunched lightly to get some of the excess water off.

After shower

HUD, raked in a quarter size blob of CK, two quarter size blobs of AOMM and scrunched in 3 pea size blobs of BRHG. Flipped back up, arranged part and scrunched a bit more with my flour sack. Hot Socked for 5 min then left my hair to dry the rest of the way on it's own.

Results

It took about an hour to completely dry - that's about 1/3 of my usual drying time when diffusing. PLUS

I was fussed about how I would detangle without fully conditioning the shower - it actually worked about to be easier. PLUS

The curls on the back of my head were much more consistent, in fact, all my curls were even - usually have several different curl types in my hair at once. HUGE PLUS

It's been a week since I did my hair. In fact, I only dampened on Day 3 or 4 (can't remember which day), I didn't do anything the rest of the days. Yesterday was the first day it looked scraggly at all but I also was in the air (dry dry dry air) and airports for 6 hrs the day before plus very late getting home. PLUS

My hair still feels moisturized with no dryness at all. The only thing I'm a bit worried about is that I might OC by conditioning again today as it seems the condish really does absorb better in damp hair. TBD

NOTE: A hair stylist told me that years ago to towel dry my hair before applying condish but I lost sight of it with all the methods and techniques I've seen (and tried) from here.

Today is wash day and I'm hoping I get the same AWESOME results!!!

Thanks Dee. You rock!!!

WHa Wha Wha whatsercurl that's awesome

that's quite a detailed post, no question left unanswered eh? You got Pics Missy???

I know I've read on the bottles that you should blot dry before adding condish. This does make sense especially after using a harsh POO you would want to absorb the condish.

As far as getting OC'd, I used to get OC'd when I did a "co-wash" then a rinse out. That's why I started using a Low Poo in between co-washes. My hair has turned out a little soft depending on what Condish I use for S&C on the first day, but I've not gotten OC'd YET! The only thing I find in the Winter is that I'm washing on the 3rd or 4th day more often, instead of on the 2nd day or less. I get build up faster then in the Summer/Fall so I've had to low poo my crown area more not just my scalp. I still scrub with the condish too otherwise my scalp gets dry, with this cold dry weather.

It's not odd m'dear it's the magic of S&C! I think it locks in the moisture longer!

Last Winter was such a struggle for me I'm so relieved to know I won't be having those drying issues anymore. Day 2 & beyond for me now consists of adding some FOTE on dry hair or some KBB butter. Works lovely for me and it's EASY. I'm finding myself getting lazy like YOU I try to extend my wash for as long as possible now!
I still can't past day 2 this winter, (or winter in general) but I think I'm just too porous for multi-day in low dew points. My ends start going straight.

With my length and porosity, those ends need more consistent conditioning in the winter.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
That's very interesting. My hair gets curlier on Day 2 and 3. Then equalizes for the rest of the week. Almost like it needs time to recover from being roughed up.

Been trying out this method for the past 2 weeks and my hair is loving it. The first few times, I had done an overnight version of the S & C Method since I was too sleepy to take a shower on those nights. It did not overcondition my hair either, good plus.

I can tell a huge difference in detangling. It makes it so much easier that I don't dread combing thru my hair anymore. Besides that, this method helps me remain consistent in keeping my hair moisturized especially in this cold weather. I've also took up the tip of using a low-poo over the conditioner when I first start my shower, another help.

Still haven't become OC'd yet and do not think I will. So the outcome of my hair thus far is that it's reducing in static frizz from being under-moisturized, clumping better and all-around softer in a good way. I'm even getting my mother to do this, good for her fine texture wavy hair too.

And this makes so much sense too which I like. I have become a novice hair scientist as of lately with the discussion of knowing ones hair texture, porosity, thickness, humidity, dewpoints, and ingredients that suit them better. My curly hair is still unpredictable but it makes it that much smoother in getting and retaining my hair to its natural healthy state.

The past couple of days, I've been spritzing before I go to bed, load up on looc, and go to bed. It melts my tangles, and I have good waves today, even with a -6 dew.
So..um...I kinda fell off the CG wagon. I got sick of long curly hair about 6 months ago. I currently have a short a-line, which I flat iron, although I also wear it wavy sometimes. I still use sulfate-free poos (I'm madly in love with the Bodyshop's rainforest moisture) and silicone free conditioners.
