Thanks for posting the video DEL! I think I'm on the right track. I guess my hair will take longer to dry since there's so much of it.

Just another thanks DEL - I have been CG for almost 7 months and between S&C and figuring out my hair's protein sensitivities my hair is *finally* getting moisture!

Also - I also am finding the need to adjust amounts with my heavier winter products now that my hair is truly getting moisturized.

Thanks again!

Trying this now. I am in desperate need of help in the frizz department and I hoping it is a simple moisture issue. Fingers crossed. Will post pics.

Default Another satisfied S&C-er

Don't need to go on and on here. I will simply say that I have some of the best curls I have ever had with relatively little product. This is the best my hair has ever felt. I need a cut desperately, because my hair is out of shape, and I need to work on the technique to get even coverage of LI and product, but that is really unrelated to this method.

Here is my photo:

Hah, I'm on the forum WHILEl Sprtiz & Co-ing. My condish is in and I'm about to head into the shower.

I, too, am slowly getting to the point where I'm moisturized. It took me a while to realize just how much condish I need. A LOT. A LOT. And I'm so porous, I need the S&C.

Later,

Haven't posted on this thread in a while but I'm still using this method and LOVING it!!!

I'm doing it now with my CJ DFCC. I've been smoothing it on, then scrubbing what's leftover in my palms into my scalp. Once in the shower, I soak my hair and add a bit more DF and detangle. Great results!

Just for fun, I decided to use my DF like I used to co-wash once last week instead of S&C. My hair didn't feel nearly as clean, took me twice as long to detangle and my hair just didn't feel as nice in general.

Okay, here is the hair after using the S&C for two days. The back is still dry and a little anti-social, but I think that is because I desperately need a cut. I am thrilled with this method. Thanks Del!

I attached a picture. You can compare it to the hot mess in my avatar.

Have any low-porosity curlies tried S & C with some water mixed with baking soda?

THIS METHOD STILL ROCKS!!

I spent a week in Mexico and thanks to this method I had no major hair problems. Just S & C'd before snorkeling and no huge dry hair issues!

Came home and spent a week sick in bed... on a day 3 dh took me to library and even the librarian commented on how pretty my hair is-- that's day 3 of sick bed hair!!!

Did I say this before? - my worst hair day since S & C is almost better than my best hair before!

I succumbed to temptation to try some new products with protein lately and overdid it so my hair is a bit dry--but NO PROBLEMO-- my hair can recover with S & C so easily!!!

Hey DEL- do you think S & C is why you can tolerate bits of protein now? I'm eyeing the CJ stuff, wanting it so bad (especially Daily Fix) but.....protein........then you come along and say you can tolerate the proteins in CJ.....

It's a combination of cutting damaged hair & getting adequate moisture. I was going to long between cuts & so my hair was needing extra conditioning. Plus using better quality products like CJ doing & S&C have all made my hair much healthier CJ isn't protein heavy, it seems to have just enough for my needs. She uses Hydrolyzed Oat Flour in a lot of her products which is a very mild protein. Even RCC was able to use the Daily Fix! There is no guarantee as you well know, you just gotta try it & of course rotate products so you don't OD and get too much of a good thing. I think for coarse heads it's even more important to rotate products that have protein. We still want some protein just not too much and it's a tricky balance. I went too long avoiding protein and my hair wasn't curling, especially from the ears down & it bounced right up when I used Curl Fix.

Yeah, I saw that about RCC so that really got my hopes up about CJDF.
Someday I really must do a studied protein test to see if it's all or just some that I can't tolerate.
I've generally used a dose of protein about once a month but never really noticed it making any difference on the curls.

Do you know where I can find out about the "strengths" of proteins? I didn't know oat was a light one. All I knew was that hydrolized tends to be heavier.

I don't know if there's a list of potency of proteins around.

I'm sure you've seen these articles about proteins http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlre...ou-should-care

http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlre...about-proteins

The "hydrolyzed" part is the process of breaking down the protein so that it's more readily be absorbed into the hair. It's really tricky though because it still comes down to product formulation as well. I've tried CJ stuff that contains Hydro.wheat & drug store stuff with the same ingredient and had very different reactions. I once tried a product with Hydro wheat as the very last ingred. and my hair got very angry! I've used products with Keratin and didn't do well at all, none of CJ's products have Keratin so I assume my hair doesn't like Keratin?! It's still a guessing game though and a lot of experimenting...Tonya also mentions that a good clarifying treatment can help reverse any protein buid up and this makes it easier to tolerate them.

Guano - thanks for those links DEL.

You know, I have fallen off of the S&C wagon lately with having to rush a lot in the mornings - and my hair has been bleh lately. Going to try and get back on track tomorrow.
