Which is your favourite low-poo? Do you have pics on any site that I could have printed to take to my hairdressers? Love the cut and colour.

Love this for swimmers
I've only recently learned Spritz & Condish has an official name, but I can verify it's a great method. I've been swimming 6-7 days a week for decades, which can obviously be hard on porous hair. A stylist told me years ago to get my hair wet before I put on my swim cap so that once I got in the pool, my hair would already be too wet to absorb much in the way of pool water & chemicals. That worked pretty well, then one day I decided to rake some conditioner into my damp hair before I put on the swim cap. That worked fabulously, and I've been doing it ever since.
Now that I think about it, my hair also started drying faster once I added conditioner to the pre-pool process. Makes perfect sense - not only is my hair absorbing fewer nasty pool chemicals, it's also absorbing less water, in both the pool and the shower.
I'm a fan!

Hi Del, thank you so much for sharing your method. It works wonders on my dry hair. I've been trying so many different products, trying to find something that would cure my dry hair and I was never satisfied with the results. Your method solved my problem And the drying time is also an awesome side effect

I just read through this whole thread and have come to the conclusion that:
1) I have very porous hair
2) I am crazy if I don't try this
So, after the gym today I will spritz and condish and report back. Looks quite genius! SSM worked for me once and then never again. My curls need something for sure!

I read the steps over and over, but I still don't get how the hair is any less wet? Seems to me that once you stick your head underneath the water it's gonna get just as wet regardless of whether you come into the shower already soaked in conditioner or not.
I know that at least with me, deep conditioning on dry hair and then doing the whole processing cap for whatever length of time, that upon jumping in the shower and rinsing my porous hair will get just as wet and dry in no less time than if I had wet, co-washed and rinsed. BTW, I've never co-washed and did another separate conditioner as a rinse-out....makes no sense to me to basically co-wash twice. The only time I condition twice is the moisture conditioning following a protein conditioning treatment.
I must be really slow or missing something because I just don't get it!

The proof is in the pudding. I don't always understand why some things work (and some effective things in life are counterintuitive), but THIS worked for my desert dry hair that's crazy porous.
I think the idea is that you moisten it and add the condish, so the hair can benefit from the condish and then NOT get supersaturated (hence this being good for the porous) by the shower. Whether that is the mechanics behind it, dunno, makes sense, but dunno.
I know it works. And many here have benefitted.
Whether it makes sense or no....I saw the improvements and I'm still doing it months and months later.
A lot of the stuff on here is "Oh, this worked for me, see if it works for you." Which is why we try it and if it works, great, if not, move along to something else. People have tried IceQueen, supersoaker, SMasters, and S&C, and many say, "Well, lookee there, it works."
I don't feel the need to examine it. If it works, fine, I keep doing it.

I have absolutely NO idea why this works, but I just did it for the first time and WOW. Perfectly formed curls that aren't limp, oc'ed or too producty. Del, you genius, you! Ah-mazing.
I did spritz and condish to the letter (had to spray a little extra water in midway through the condish part). Only used a LI (no curl creme today as I am having CC issues), some gel and now I am air-drying as per usual. My curls love me today. Seriously, between spritz and condish and laying off of my curl creme, this is my best hair day yet!
Now if I can only stop myself from playing with them all day. Truly my downfall. I love to "boing" them and by the end of the day they are frizzy little ghosts of what they were earlier in the day. Ha.
Thanks again, Del!!!!

Where I'm confused is this. I'm very porous, yet when I put a conditioner, which is water-based over dry hair and then hop in the shower and rinse, my hair isn't drying in any less time.
Actually I spritz my hair daily and often nightly before putting it up with my mix of water, GF Fortifying Conditioner, evoo and many times when I don't need a co-wash I just jump in and rinse. Other times, if I need a little extra conditioning before a co-wash, I first spritz on my mixture, and then work in extra GF or another conditioner or maybe skip the extra condish and do straight up evoo, put on my plastic cap and go about business for 30 mins. to an hour and hop in the shower and scrub the scalp and rinse. Still my hair is damp several hours later, but then I don't dry it loose, but up in a bun, high pony or twists. Are you all drying your hair loose? Is that what I'm missing? This routine that I'm doing now I only started about 3.5 weeks ago because I was suffering serious dryness and can say I'm so past that and my curls are popping once again.
I'm gonna try this S&C as laid out and NOT put my hair up and report back tomorrow a.m., I can still use my spritz mix after right? PS...my hair day before yesterday....

I've read that hair can only soak in water for the first 15 minutes. If it is only sprayed damp, then it would get less wet and dry faster.
I'm not a scientist. I have no idea if this makes scientific sense or not.

It's less wet because you've dampened the hair and let it absorb some of the condish. The hair is now coated with condish when you hop in the shower and rinse it out add some more condish as needed. It will be less wet you'll see. Just try it
Glad to see it's still working for so many new & old!

....but that' just it! My hair is already coated with conditioner since I use my mix (containing water) as my leave-in 2x daily then sealed with evoo. For the past 3.5 weeks I've been co-washing about every other day to correct the dryness. I've also described how I've been coating it up pretty thickly 30 minutes to an hour prior to jumping in the shower for extra conditioning; often rinsing out and adding a little more to the ends..... just like you are really. The only thing I can tell that I may be doing differently (but not sure since didn't get answer to that) is not letting my hair hang loose to dry. Are you all letting the hair dry loosely or are you plopping with a towel? I've never plopped, but I can try

Off topic
Vera- are you doing protein treatments? If not you should look into them. They really help your hair hang on to moisture. You may need everyday products with protein in them as well since your hair is very porous.
Here is a good article on protein if you aren't familiar

Thanks pedaheh....I do protein treatments when I need too and usually use ORS Replenishing Pak a few times a month and I have a few more weeks before I can do another Aphogee 2 Step if I find it to be necessary. BTW, I do believe I stated that I have corrected my dryness. As for everyday products....yes.
Well andyways, I spritzed this a.m. until slightly damp and conditioned with GF Fortifying Conditioner. I put on a processing cap and meant to jump in the shower within the hour....it's been going on half the day now lol! As soon soon as I'm finished with this reply I'm headed for the shower!! I was hoping someone would reply to my question about how you all are drying the hair, whether plopping or not, hanging loose, ponying, bunning, etc. in regards to cutting the drying time down? I guess I do what I do normally and either put my hair up in a curly puff, or two-strand twists for a twist-out tomorrow . I dunno... I might just put my stuff in and do a wash-n-go (been a while) and since I've never plopped before, maybe this will be as good a time as ever to learn aye?

I'm not an expert on the spritz and condish method. I believe that it shortens the drying time for some people, but it doesn't work that way for everyone.
There isn't one specific way people dry their hair after the spritz and condish method. People just dry their hair in whatever way works best for them.
P.S. Like your hair.

Thanks pedaheh
Well, I tried this both yesterday and today and personally it made no difference what-so-ever. My hair was none-the less wetter for than usual nor any more moisturized the first time and only slightly better today.
I spritzed with plain water and conditioned with GF Sleek-n-Shine Fortifying Conditioner both times...yesterday I waited well over 5 hours under a processing cap, and today I just pinned it up and was in the shower within the hour. I barely got my hair wet and processed to co-wash and finger comb; rinsed out. Got out and used my water/conditioner/evoo mix as my leave-in and put up in high pony....hair wasn't fully dry until after midnight.
This a.m. after rinsing I added more condish and lightly rinsed but not thoroughly. Put hair up in a towel while I dried off and than instead of my usual leave-in mix, I used about a quarter size amount of straight GF and sealed with evoo. I could tell any difference in moisture until I was about 50% air-dried in a high curly afro puff (about 2 hours) and then proceeded to put in about 8 large twists to complete drying. It feels a bit more moisturized today, but possibly the GF I used for the leave-in is responsible for that. Hair is just now about 90% dry and it has been 9 hours total.

5 hours in a processing cap sounds like overkill to me. I think an hour is more then plenty.
I'd suggest trying a more moisturizing rinse out. GF triple nutrition is popular. Aubrey organics honeysuckle and rose is a stinky but good option. I've also read good things the curl junkie jar conditioners and the spiral solutions deep conditioner if you can afford to spend a little more. Kathymack from the board sells samples of CJ and SS.
Here is a thread on moisturizing rinse outs.
What is the HEAVIEST (most moisturising) conditioner you've ever used?
9 hours is a long time to wait for your hair to dry. Sounds frustrating. Wish I could help.

So I've been wondering on this method. I would read it over and over and be skeptical about it before caving and trying it a few days ago. I have 3b with some 3c porous and fine/medium texture and I've noticed that it's been difficult to retain moisture lately. So, I spritzed and used GVP conditioning balm about 5mins prior to my shower and although it felt nice to rinse and add more conditioner, I really don't feel like it did much more than that. I mean....doesn't the hair soak up just as much water as it would without the S&C method after you rinse out the conditioner that you applied before the shower? That's what I felt like my hair was doing, so therefore what was the point to add conditioner before the shower? I'm definitely not saying that this method doesn't work or trying to put it down in any way, I'm just trying to analyze it in a way that I can put sense to it. I mean it DOES make some sense to me when I read it, but after my conditioner is rinsed out I feel like my hair is just absorbing the same amount of water as it would if I haddn't pre-condished.
Anyone else agree? I want this method to work for me as it has for others, but I'm still not sure if what I'm predicting is fact or fiction, or if I'm just over-analyzing all together, LOL.

santini struttswife explains earlier in this thread why spritzing before a DT helps with conditioner absorption it may be in the first couple pages.
also curlyjen10 has a blog http://collegecurly.blogspot.com/ and she was using GVP to S&C maybe you can find some helpful pointers there. Maybe your hair is getting adequate moisture& doesn't need S&C it could be why you don't notice a difference.

Yep, I usually use GVP for this method. I usually let it sit for at least 20 min though.
When I first started this method a little over a year ago, I didn't notice anything different except that my hair was more moisturized. After a few months, I noticed my diffusing time went down as well.
Different people have different hair needs, so it doesn't surprise me that some people don't notice much of a difference. My hair is very porous and very coarse, so it's been a lifesaver for me
