long hair and curly hair is a good hairstyle!
I love this method and believe it has made all the difference for my hair. I don't understand why it works, but it does.

I can remember watching mysteryflavored's KCCC video early in my curly days and she was talking about how her hair was wet and dripping down her back. I was thinking that was strange because my hair was never drippy. When I got out of the shower my hair was wet, but once I squeezed some of the water out I didn't feel any drips down my back.

Now, since incorporating the S & C method, my hair is super drippy and I have water dripping down my back until I get my product in and scrunch.

Not that I know what this means, but I think it must have something to do with my porous hair not holding on to as much water after I S & C.

I have been converted! I am relatively new to the CG method and after trying this technique I think this might be the first frizz free day of my life (still a little too early to tell but so far loads more improvement on the frizz front. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you to all of you who have the patience and the know how to experiment and find things that actually work!

I am forever indebted
willwork4curls.......I absolutely LOVE your hair style! Can you clue me in on the cut a bit? Did you take a picture to your stylist or give her any specific instructions? I have been growing my hair out since starting GG last February...just never could find a style I loved till today...YOURS!

Your pic is pretty tiny...do you have a bigger one I could have to print off to take to my stylist?

WOW...it's just beautiful!

Oh man, I've definitely been converted too. My hair has low-normal porosity but is very, very dry. It just eats up conditioner. And after I rinse out, it feels dry again. I did the spritz and condish today with GVPCB for 15 minutes and then got in the shower and scrubbed my scalp with Suave Naturals Coconut and rinsed everything out and it was sooo soft even after rinsing out. I used some GFTN as a LI and my hair feels heavenly. Thank you so much for this method!!!

My hair has moved into the Low/Normal porosity so isn't as dry as it used to be A lot of times what I do now is S&C put it into a scrunchie and sleep on it once a week. Then I wash it out the next day. So if this gets to be too much and you end up OC'd add some protein to your hair or back off on how often you use this method. Lovely to see it working for so many of you!

I've been adding more oil into my Spritz & Condish routine lately with amazing results. I just add some coconut or olive oil to whatever conditioner I'm using and my hair is loving it.

DEL2C i love you! i think this is exactly what my hair needed! i do it with GFTN and it's amazing! ok, that's all i got right now hehe
ive also had a similar experience like willwork4curls, as far as hair being drippy now. i also get a lot of that "squish" when scrunching gel in, w/o having to use my water bottle, which i never had before!

I tried this earlier in the year for the drying time reduction, but I don't recall it being significantly lowered (and didn't notice any other major changes or benefits), but since then, I have started diffusing and developing a better routine since those initial days. I also think my hair is slowly getting better and my styling has improved, so I have had more good days, and I know it can look good. I really *have* come a long way since then, but I have further to go still. So now I am less concerned with drying time since I diffuse, though that's a bonus if it helps with that, but I'm looking more for larger clumps and definition, with less frizz (I'd say no frizz, but with my hair, that's being a bit too optimistic, I think) and stronger curls...so I decided to re-read this thread all the way through and give it a try it again.

So I tried it last night, though I didn't see a huge improvement (much like the first time), other than a drastically shortened detangling time. I don't know if I just didn't do the spritzing right (too much water or not evenly distributed) or if it was that I didn't rinse upside down (too afraid of tangles) or under cold water (too cold right now to do..brrr) or if something in my styling routine was a problem. I don't have anymore definition or better curl or clumping than usual and I have a fair bit of frizz..my hair isn't horrible, but I've had better hair days.

I think that S&C is worth continuing, for the detangling help alone at least. Detangling is the longest part of my shower unless I am shaving, and it can take upwards of 10 minutes. Last night, it took less than 5. Wow! My guess is that the condish I used had lots of slip already and was working out tangles while it was sitting on my hair before I even got in the shower. I think there are things I can do to improve my overall S&C experience...I think for starters, I'm going to section my hair like in that video so that I can get a more even application of water and conditioner and I will definitely have either my fluffy microfiber robe on, or a towel wrapped over my shoulders (though the sectioning might make it less messy with the spray). I have some other thoughts bouncing in my head of what I might try next. I also hope to have a haircut in the next few weeks, so that might help overall too.

Informally, just a few questions to those that this has worked well for immediately, did you do stuff upside down or use cold water as a final rinse? Are you wavy or curly? Strong or weak pattern? Long or short hair? I feel certain that the bulk of my hair is porous, from all the years I coloured it. I see water beading on the hair at my roots only, and I haven't coloured in a year, so my guess is that this virgin hair is normal to low porosity. I think my hair is somewhat dry from being porous, and being fine, it is prone to breaking easily. I think my frizz is a result of dry and damaged hair, so one would think my hair would love this method.

Thoughts anyone?

PB, are you sure your hair needs all the moisture? I've been telling all over the boards that since I went moisture free since May, my hair has never been nicer with good curl formation and way less frizz.

I only use heavy duty protein on my 3a-3b fine, med density, very porous hair and my hair just loves it. I can't use plant proteins but keratin and silk are my faves.

When I have time, my favorite way to do Spritz & Condish is with my protein treatments. I damp down my hair with my hands, to get enough but not too much water in my hair, then slather on my protein treatments and leave it under a shower cap for 20-30 minutes. Then i use the residue to scrub my scalp really well, then rinse out. (I think the protein is good for my scalp too)

I don't add any moisture CO and just add my styling products, RE:coil and CK and then my diffusing.

The protein really makes my hair easy to detangle(upside down) and it clumps well too.

Do you use any proteins at all? Maybe you could be OC'd?

Just trying to throw out some ideas for you.

My hair does like protein though. I've thought of trying this with a protein heavy condish actually. Thanks Ondulee!

For fine, thin hair...what conditioners would be used for the spritz and condish??
3b, fine textured, thin and normal to high porosity.
I tried this twice over the past week, and it worked great on my frizz! I've been battling some wicked frizz lately. The only days I've been frizz-free have been after an overnight DT and after spritz & condish! Thanks Del.

I was wondering, if this is working for me, does that seem to indicate that i have porous hair? It's color treated, so I tend to think that it is porous, but I've never had a hair analysis.

Iv'e read to EVERY post on this thread...lol I'm still trying to figure my hair out and i'm a newbie to the method. Since starting less than a month ago iv'e had like 5 good hair days. I ran upon this thread, read through it and decided I wanted to try it. Today was not a wash day for me so I did the spritz & condish without the low-poo/CO wash step. My hair looks A-MA-ZING!!!!! I'm so happy I tried it!!! I have these HUGE, BOUNCY, SOFT curls...Thanks for posting this!!!!

Have not tried any of these products, but upside down does work for volume.
I have done this technique twice this past week and I am just amazed at how awesome my hair looks! It is sooo soft and my curls...oh my curls are just fierce!!!

When it comes to some of the finer details of my hair - I'm lost - porosity being the main one...but I figured - what do I have to loose...

I am using GVPCB and Giovanni 50/50...followed the routine to a T...

This is what I have noticed:

* My drying time has been cut in half. It usually takes my hair up to 4 hours to be completely dry. My hair is not that thick. But last night it took about 1 1/2 hours.

* My hair isn't as crunchy when it dries, so I'm not having to SOTC as much.

* My curls are smaller. I'm not a huge fan of clumping (some women look fabulous with big clumpy curls - unfortunately I'm not one of them) but my curls aren't as piecey as before (if that makes sense)

* My hair feels lighter somehow. Dunno how else to explain it.

I think that even though I don't look good in clumpy curls - I may try the upside down method just to see what I get....also I use homemade FSG and I'm kinda wondering if I may need a more substantial gel with this method....

Maybe this was mentioned already, but couldn't you mix half water half condish in a spray bottle and spritz that on dry hair, maybe in sections, wait 5 minutes, and then wash scalp and condition?

I use the cwc method a lot, do pre-poos, and I think I've tried a version of this before, but may have to give it a shot again!
