Spritz and Condish Washing for Porous Types+Thirsty Curls Everywhere!

Like Tree38Likes

Sorry I don't quite get this, can anyone help? Is it basically reversing the order of wash/co wash and rinse out?

So you spay hair to dampen it, then put on your rinse out conditioner. Let it sit, then get in shower and rinse it out upside down. Then still upside down, low poo (or co wash?) scalp and rinse. Then you don't do another rinse out, but can you just add a bit of condish if needed and then rinse out but not to the extent of a normal rinse out.

I really like the sound of this method, but if the last thing rinsed through my hair was low poo or even a co wash without great slip, I'd be in tangling nightmare. So after you've rinsed out the scalp wash can you do a quick rinse out with a tiny bit of condish?

TIA for any help, very porous due to cuticle damage and would like to be able to give this a try.
UK based wavy

Mostly waves, but curls and straight bits too!
Fine to medium, high porosity, medium density, very low elasticity
Highlights damage (growing it out), seems to like protein and need lots of moisture.

Cleanse - CJDF, trying out low poos ; Co wash- Uk chemist brands, Urtekram Rose or Aloe, Hairveda Amala Cream Rinse; RO - varies, Tigi Moisture Maniac, Desert Essence Coconut ; Leave in - Keracare natural textures; Sealant - argan oil
Trying out new things, still looking.

I'm naturally porous, so I can relate!

Here's what I do -

Either I scrunch condish into dry or misted hair, then get in the shower and low-poo or clarify,

Or I get in the shower and put essentially a DT (a good RO with honey and EVOO, sometimes protein added), leave it on while I shave, etc. Then I'll detangle, low poo my scalp, then rinse it all.

I follow up with a LOT of LI. (I actually use 2 - one in the shower so I can do a final comb through, and then another when I get out and am scrunching in clumps and curls!)

I do everything upright. I might tilt my head forward or side to side, but I never do upside down.

HTH!

I think the actual original post on this says to spritz and condish before the shower, then get in the shower and rinse, then low poo the scalp. I can't recall if it suggests to follow with a RO or not. It also said to rinse upside down - I get way better clumps when I don't do that, but to each his/her own!

Thank you Jas 76, that is helpful. Interesting you don't do upside down! I'll have to try both, hope I prefer upright too as hanging upside down isn't always the easiest!

Yeah, upside down was killing my neck (and sinuses) so I started doing upright, and low and behold - the clumps held up! I guess for my hair setting the clumps where the live work better than setting them and then flipping up.

I don't do a single bit of it upside down (except on very rare occasions I'll apply stylets that way), and iget great results. I do clip the roots for volume, tho.

I finally took the time to read through this thread - thanks for all of the info! Interesting, I had read somewhere that conditioner doesn't do anything for your hair if it isn't wet through first, but what you all are saying here makes sense. I'm going to give it a shot, and maybe try doing a DT an hour before showering once a week instead of doing it after, then rinsing out, then styling. Seems more efficient.
3A with some bits of 3B; fairly porous, I think (bumpy strands!), growing out old dye damage. No chemical treatments/color since 06/2010.

Can you guys explain?

It's just another form of it. In this one you spritz the hair so it is slightly wet, then apply condish, then rinse and poo as normal. Or you can just poo the roots, leave the condish in your ends while doing that, and then rinse it all out together and apply RO or LI as needed.
