Suggestions while it grows in?

I need ideas for what to do with my hair while the front grows back. Since the surgery, my hair above my forehead to the center of the top of my head is about 1/2 inch of mostly white while the sides and back are dyed and just hang down. Looks weird but I'm only just starting to care about ordinary things like appearance.

The doc says I can dye the hair but I thought maybe I'd wait until it grows a bit more. Should I cut off all the rest of the hair so at least it is one length?

Is it possible to get it to grow a bit more and then put some sort of extensions in temporarily? I might consider that if I didn't want super short hair.

What about some wide cloth headbands to cover the white? Or just use a temporary rinse. How long is your hair and do you want to go back natural color?

Good ideas. I hadn't thought of either.

I've never tried extensions. Have to investigate. First I think I'll try a temporary rinse - that sounds like a good compromise. Thanks!

My hair was cut in the hospital to 3 inches in sides/back and shaved on top.

I'd like to keep dying my hair since the white/gray doesn't go with my skin tone. (Pale ivory with freckles).

I love the silk headbands. I wear them occasionally when my roots need touching up and I'm too lazy. :)

I just discussed this last week with my colorist (my Mom has a benign brain tumor that will require surgery).

He said the growth only needs to be a 1/4 inch long to dye it. I assume that the hair itself is also an issue for you til it grows out. My suggestions is this: dye the new hair, you will feel better if it 'blends' visually. Then use this time as an excuse to rock scarves and funky hats til it grows to a point you can work with.

Whatever you chose good luck and speedy recovery! And keep up with things nutritionally so your new growth is maximized!
