ARGHHH ! cotton candy poofy hair - help !!

I'm at my wits end, seriously. I had been using Shea moisture leave in and BRHG . Then my hair starting getting poofier, so i cut out the leave in. it was ok for a while , then started getting dry and poofy again (it feels like cotton candy), If i use more gel, it gets too crunchy; less gel, my curl is undefined. I shampoo twice a week, and i condition wash every day. i deep condition once a week with Devacurl .
I am so sick and tired of this, it affects my mood to the point my hubby says cut it off (then I'd probably complain my bald head is too shiny or something
any suggestions??? thank you !

Worrying is like being in a rocking chair; it gives me something to do but it doesn't get me anywhere.

Best combo so far:
Shea moisture leave-in and BRHG
So you know your texture and porosity?
2c/3a/3b Fine/med texture, normal porosity, normal elasticity
I think i have med texture and medium porosity, but am not sure (my hair is thick and dry)

1. Water wash only (scrubbing the scalp without using a condish) for a few days

2. Clarify with a clarifying shampoo or use a low poo for a while

3. Do a protein treatment

4. Do a ACV rinse

5. Nix the heavy leave in for a while (you've already done this) and use a lighter one every other day until hair is back to normal.

You can do any of the above or a combo of the above to remedy this. Shea leave in was giving your hair too much moisture which is how you got over conditioned in the first place. Obviously you need some light conditioning since your hair became dry without the LI, but first you need to get your hair balanced. Once your hair normalizes you can go back to using LI and BRHG but you may want to either use less of the shea LI or use it less often and use a lighter one as well.

Thanks Belasuna for answering ! I was leaning towards overconditioning myself, but wasn't sure. I'm going to try just water washing for a couple of days and then use a lighter leave in...thanks again for responding!

I agree with Belasuna. I am getting over and overconditioning problem myself.

My solution was a protein treatment, followed by an acv rinse, then a dt, but just a "quick" one because the last time a did a PT w/o a DT my hair was kind of straw like.

It's a lot better, but I've just done h2o washes for the past 2 days with a little leave in afterwards. Planning on doing a h2o wash, rinse out and a little leave in tomorrow because it seems my hair is getting back to "normal".
