New to diffusing

I'm new to diffusing (and using a blow dryer for that matter) and have some questions.

1) Do you cup your curls with the bowl and hold it directly against your scalp?

2) Do you cup each section without moving (left or right or up or down) for about 30 seconds until your hair is about 75% dry (starts to feel a little crunchy)?

3) Do you use heat on low?

I have short hair so need to hold the diffuser against my head, but usually people with longer hair don't.
I'm love the pixie curl method.
what is the pixie curl diffusing method?
With this method you hold the dryer in place without moving it. Many people diffuse the way it is done in the video.
Always diffuse on low. You want to avoid high heat styling for healthy hair. Also diffuser + high heat can kill your dryer.

Thanks. Actually, I used Jessicurl today, and got most of my diffusing info from her site and videos, but in the video she is sort of moving the diffuser up and down, and somewhere else I thought she said to hold it to your scalp for 30 seconds.
