The Braid Trend - suitable for curlies?

I think some of these styles would be simply gorgeous on curly hair, but the only pics I can find with Google are all of straight or slightly-wavy celebrities.

Anyone here done anything like this? Brave enough to try it? Show pictures? My hair isn't long enough, or I'd be experimenting with braids right now!
Also, check out the braid thread over on the non-hair board for more unique styles.

Hey opera!

My hair isn't long enough to do this now, but when it was, I did curly braids all the time, and I consider myself to be slightly fashion --- uh picky? I'm usually a little out there, not super classical, but I'm also not so far out there that you need a satellite to talk to me either.

To be honest, I like braids in curly hair better, because of the interesting texture play! Not only that, but curly hair will hold the braid better. ANNNND, when I was younger and had straight hair, and my friend had curly hair, and we got braids at the ren faire, hers looked much better than mine lol.

Maybe I'll play with something on the top of my head since its longer and take a pic to show you sometime this weekend. If I'm feeling ambitious. hah.

My hair isn't long enough to do braids anymore, but when it was (sigh), I would do a braid like the first pic around the front of my head and leave the back all curly and wild...kinda like a lions' mane LOL I alway got compliments on it and it was my "go to" look when I couldn't get my hair to do anything (or if I was just to lazy to do it tee hee). I would also do little rows of braids from the front to about the middle of my crown and leave the back all curly and use a little pomade to get some curls really rockin' out--that was probably my favorite look
I've done it on wavy hair. It looked very cute!

Thanks for the responses, ladies. Anyone else?

I really, really, really wish I could French braid my own hair It just never really turns out that well, plus I get layers popping out in funny places.
My hair is too short now, but I LOVE braids. Sigh...

When I was transitioning I did a reverse French braid to keep things interesting. Loved it.

I really like the braid in the first picture anyone know how to do that?
^^ I think it's just a french braid that is kind of off center, if that makes any sense.

I love these cute braids too, but my hair is kinda fine so if I try it, it just looks silly because it's like the braid is stuck to my head. I don't get any volume since I have to do it when it's wet. I haven't mastered (or tried to master) the art of doing a loose braid so when it dries it has a little more volume. I have done an off-to-the side braid of all of my hair - after it dries - and I think it looks pretty cute

Yes I wore hair braided when my hair was superlong, and have done lots of braids on my kids, who have varying textures.

Wavy hair is easiest to braid, but curly hair is still easier to braid than straight hair. Straight hair tends to slip out of the braids, and the pieces that stick out look silly, if it's curly those pieces will often wrap around the braid and hide.

Absolutely, if you like braided styles try them with your hair.

Best braids I got (don't laugh) was usually on combed-out puffball hair. It smoothed out fine once braided and held great.

I am BSL stretched out and the perfect length for these braids but I can't do them myself. My hair gets all tangled when I try to braid.
