Should I get a haircut?

Should I get my hair trimmed/cut? Pics can be found here:

Please check out my Curly Hair 2006 album. The first ones you see may not be the most recent, but most of them have dates on them.

I'm not thinking of doing anything too drastic. About a year ago I had it cut short, shoulder length in the very front and a few inches longer than that in back. I think it was a bit triangle-ish, but there are pics in the other album if you want to judge for yourself. Before that it was waist-length, but that was before I came here and got such great advice about caring for curly hair

. Not sure if I prefer it long or "short".

The recent ones of you in the dark purple shirt look really good. Unless you want a change or a different shape, I'd keep it.

I think your curls are beautiful! If anything I would get a trim but leave most of the length.

You have such pretty curls! I'm thinking just a little trim/cut to refresh your curls would be enough. I like your hair at the length that it is and it looks healthy.

I think you all noticed what I noticed, which is some unevenness. It's actually been a year and a half since that previous cut, now that I calculate it.

I'm kind of nervous about having anyone cut my hair, even just a trim! I've heard and read such horror stories... I've actually been giving myself trims (saves money too, but I don't try to be even, just trim each curl/wave.) I have a couple of recommendations on salons but am open to others (Chicago area).

Anyone else want to weigh in with an opinion? TIA!
