Mineral Oil?

So I know that mineral oil should be avoided, but I’m not sure exactly why? Is it removable with a low poo or do you need sulfates to remove it?

Sorry if this is a question that has been answered a million times. I searched for it but didn't find what I as looking for

Eta: I am asking because I bought Lustrasilk Cholesterol with carrot oil (the only one i've been able to find) and only later realized it had mineral oil in it.

Mineral oil is a synthetic oil. It coats the hair shaft and prevents moisture from penetrating thru the hair. It can also suffocate the hair. Between the lack of moisture and suffocation, the hair will be damaged and break.
You want to stay away from all synthetic oils. It's used in many products because it's cheap not because it's good for your hair.
Look for oils like avocado, grapeseed, jojoba and shea. Those oils will moisturize your hair.

It depends on your hair. Some hair can tolerate it more than others.
A low poo or shampoo bar may remove the mineral oil. If not, you'll need to use something stronger.

ETA: I found this searching "mineral oil"

Mineral Oil and Silicones need to be removed with surfactants. Cocamidopropyl Betaine is the best way to go instead of SLS.

Thank you crimsonshedemon that was exactly the information I was looking for! I will definitely stay away from mineral oil. I had no idea it could do that kind of damage!

I will still be cautious with it though since I have no idea how my hair reacts with it.
