My waves transformed into curls! then mutated back...

So I thought I had it guys! I washed my hair with Suave Naturals Aloe and Waterlily to get my products out, then I did a deep treatment with Devacurl Heaven in Hair, and my hair was curly! Legitimate curls! I was so excited! I then scrunch in some Devacurl Set Me Up, and my god it was amazing, my limp waves were curls!

Then they dried...

When my hair started to dry, my curls dropped and my ends went back to wavy, not the curled in ends that i had before.

I'm trying to figure out what I did wrong.

The only products I used was Set Me Up, and that was it.

I own Angell, Set it Free and B'leave in as well. Angell is still being debated, B'leave in is so far so good, but I combed it through my hair and when I comb my hair with my fingers, my curls stretch out and turn to waves. Set it free has so far been a bust, it makes my hair crunchy in the bad way, but I've never used it on wet hair, just dry hair to set my diffusing (It's 13 degrees outside and I walk to class, so diffusing usually has to happen). Maybe I should try it when wet to see if it holds my curls up?

I can't tell if it was my lack of other products, or something else. Do I need a trim? Are my ends just too dead to hold moisture and curl? They've been colored and stripped many times, but I was hoping to wait till 4 months since my last hair cut to get it cut in a curly style.

I've found a curly hair stylist that has great reviews here on this site, and I want to go get my hair cut by her, but again, I wanted to wait. BUT I'm too impatient, and thought maybe I could get a cut that would help promote my curls to form? Right now my hair has 2 layers, it was cut as if my hair is straight, and I had straight across bangs as well, and they are growing out. I was thinking maybe getting it cut better would help my curls? I don't know, I'm trying to grow it out, but I'm such a n00b lol.

Anything else I'm not thinking about? It's only been a few days since I started going CG, but it was such a dramatic change, I thought it would last. Maybe that's what my hair will look like once it's used to the CG treatment?

Soooo I'm most likely getting my hopes up, but any advice is great advice for me!

Also! I have one little section of hair that grows right below my temple, and it just doesn't like to curl! It's this little thin strip of hair, that won't clump with any other pieces, and I would like some advice on how to tame that silly chunk.

TIA!

I don't, so far I'm using gels and set me up, which is sort of a cream/pomade.. so I thought it was a good substitute. Curl creams always weighed my hair down, or made it crunchy/sticky. I have fine to normal hair so i try not to weigh it down too much.

I went from winter wavy/summer curly to hair like my signature picture every day. Just takes the right products and technique to maximize your curl potential.

Maybe you should plop. With my hair, the water weighs it down as it dries so it won't be as curly as it would be if I took some of that waterweight out with plopping.

wow kathymack, you're hair and the seasonal change sounds exactly like my hair type. what brands do you use? Deva is going good with me so far though, it's not perfect yet, but it's better than my normal winter limpness. I have some pretty waves with a few ringlets where they would be during the summer, instead of my sad frizzy semiwaves.

Marlene00 how long do you plop for? I've got a curlease towel in the mail right now to my house, and I'm hoping to plop with that when it gets here. I have some Deva towels that work great for scrunching, and I thought that was getting the water weight out enough, but when the Curlease towel comes I'll try plopping as well.

I've plopped with tshirts before, and i used to do it overnight when my hair was close to butt level, but it wasn't dry in the morning, and my curls were smooshed. So it's trial and error I guess lol.
I only plop for like 5 - 10 minutes. I've never done it over night.

well my hair is fine but there's a lot of it, so when it was down to my butt it was about 2-3 feet long, and i thought plopping overnight would help it out. but now it's shoulder length, and i'm always in a rush, so 5-10 minutes would be perfect lol.

And now I have lots of root curl and a mix of 3a/b curls all of the time.

My current favorites are in my signature.
