Boots curl creme. vs gel
Whats the difference between a Creme and Gel?
I tried boots mixed with gel yesterday and it didn't come out to great.
So today I just used the gel which was better, but I don't think I used enough creme yesterday.
Would just one of these products be enough? Or is there a reason to mix both?
How much creme should I use, I have lots of hair and its always needed a lot of product?
Which one guards against frizz and humidity and which one will be better for my hair (the gel I use has no Alcohol Denat in it).
I want to keep it simple you see, so I can concentrate on condition.

If I had to pick just one, it would be a cream styler, but I usually use both. I love Boots, it's one of 2 of my HG cream stylers, but if I want any kind of hold I have to use a gel on top. When you said that you 'mixed' them together, you meant you layered them right? You didn't actually mix them together in your hand and apply them that way, or? Just making sure. I can definitely get away with Boots on it's own as a styler, but again not if I'm expecting any hold. Recoil is a cream styler than I go use alone because it does have some hold to it. But basically I use a cream styler for the curl definition and enhancement, and a gel for the hold and to keep my hair from getting too fluffy or fly-away.

Hmm that's a tough one. I guess I would go with gel. I use gel for first day hair because the hold lasts until I wash my hair again. I like to use a cream styler to refresh second/third day hair though. I've also used a cream styler for first day hair, but because they have far less hold than gel(if any) my curls do not last nearly as long as they do when I use gel the first day.

You are so funny. I know there are some people that mix there creams and gels together, so I'm not saying that's wrong or that it won't work, but I think you will get the most out of each type if you layer them instead.

I just presumed that when people said mixed they actually said mixed.
At the time I actually thought;
"mmm, should I get a little bowl and spoon to mix these?"
Im not a very stupid person in general infact I have been known to have some rather intelligent moments.
Then I gave birth and lost some braincells with the placenta, so my brain shortchanges me sometimes.
I am such a dumbass

I need both!
I put on the cream, and then the gel. The Boots gives me nice curl definition, and the gel holds it and protects it from frizz (usually, it's not a perfect world) as the day goes by.
If I had to go with only one, I'd probaly go with the gel since I don't need much assistance with curl formation. I just think that the cream gives better definition and a less unruly look. The gel I'd need to keep my hair from being 3 feet wide on each side.
Edited to add: Since you mentioned amounts, I use a blob of Boots about the size of a quarter - mmm - about a circle an inch in diamter I guess? My gel blob is about the same size or a little bit more if use the Set me Up, but smaller if I use BRHG - from quarter down to about nickel sized - about 3/4 inch circle or so.

Wow RCC no wonder I like softer hold gels I use way more gel than you do. I can't seem to get it all over my head if I don't. I need an arm growing out of my back to apply back there I guess

I have always been more of a gel kinda girl. I do use cremes too sometimes, but my hair needs more hold usually that any creme I have tried can give me. Boots works the best I think of the ones I have tried. It makes my hair look good but it feels less fresh than when I use a gel.
So creme seem to moisturize the hair more, but gives less hold. It can give me duller looking hair too.
I VERY rarely mix any stylers at all. At the most I use a leave in under a gel, but I never use two styling products.

How long is your hair pitgirl?
Mine is just a few inches above my bra strap and I use a dollop of Boots curl cream about the size of a 50p and then smooth it on my hair. Then I put a 10p size dollop of gel on top of that.
To answer the poll I use both, layered on top of each other.
