So, What Products are You Loving These Days?

Happy belated New Year's, my curly sisters

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday...as you can see, I am a bit behind. I am finally recovering from nine weeks of total Internet hell...I've barely had any online access since early December (so I apologize for any late responses or lack of response in the last two months). Ask me how much I love Brighthouse right now

Anywho...as we start into 2010, I'd like to ask: what products/brands are you loving right now? I am still on a quest for the "perfect" product line and have been experimenting like mad with all kinds of products, but am far from satisfied. Salon brand, drugstore brand, doesn't matter...I'd just like to know what products are lighting up your lives these days?

Curl Junkie, especially Curl Rehab, has been great for the winter dryness.

JASMINE'S BATH AND BEAUTY PRODUCTS! Love both of the CG items (a rinse out and a leave in/masque). Both a extra moisturizing for me in the dry winter (noticing a theme yet??). Hair has been consistently fantastic. I'm basically using the leave in (it's called Babassu Butter Creme) under basically everything.

I've recently been using Donna Marie Miracurls Curling Jelly quite a bit. This stuff has been really nice in dewpoints between 20 and 40

I've been using Deva No Poo as my cleanser daily and I've noticed a lot better curl formation and a happy happy scalp with it.

This list is getting long. I'm just having a great winter for my hair

Gels that have been consistently successful: HE Body Envy has been great for me lately. It's my go-to right now. Also having a little less consistent but still decent luck with Bioterra's gel

Homemade flax seed gel never lets me down. Also on the homemade front, my favorite DT (which I've been doing 2-3 times A WEEK!) consists of olive oil, Curl Rehab, Jasmine's rinse out, coconut oil, and jojoba oil.

Fine/thin 2c/3a, Low-Medium Porosity, Dry!
Because of some of the suggestions here, I started using Biotera Styling Gel and Curl Creme, and I love them both, they really work well together. I mix them together in my hand, then apply them. I get really great curl hold and soft hair after I SOTC a little when completely dry.

I really can't "afford" the salon brands at the moment, so I'm really into store bought, drug store type deals right now.

I've also been using the Salon Care Almond & Honey condish, for co-washing and as a LI, LOVE IT! The smell is quite heavenly!

Look forward to hearing the rest of the girls input here...

Tiffany!!! You're back yay!!!! I don't know about anyone else but I've missed you!!!

I've been an absolute Junkie trying lot of stuff but I still go back to KCCC nothing compares to it. I have discovered and love the KomazaCare Califia conditioner, but the smell makes me sneeze, stuffy and headaches. I'm not sure if I will buy again and its making me sad.

Some of the ladies are having lots of luck with the new Curl Junkie products.

It has to be FSG. After using it for all this time I still can't believe that something so simple and cheap works so well.

Curls in a Bottle is good but I have to use it in rotation - there's something in there my hair doesn't like after 2 consecutive uses.

Black soap to cleanse - it's CG in that it's only coconut oil and shea butter and it's done good things for the moisture in my hair, and my scalp feels better.

And good old AOHR is still in there, along with Garnier Fructis Repair and Shine, which is CG in the UK.

Wishing you good curly days in 2010 and always

Welcome back! You've been missed. I will also recommend the new CJ products--but I know you have that line. The Jasmines Shea Butter and Babassu Buttercream are phenominal! The Shescentit leave ins are wonderful.

And most of all, you've missed runnerchicki's product development on the 2 forum. She opened an Esty Store last week and sold out!

I think she'll be up and "running" again tomorrow. Was waiting for ingredients and containers. I've only tried two of her products--and they were incredible. I'm hoping to have product for samples sometime soon. They are really special.

since deva changed their formulas, i've been on an eternal search. i am still using the no poo and low poo, but they are the old formulas. don't know if i will use the new ones.
as for conditioners/stylers, it's CURL JUNKIE!!! love the curl rehab for dt, daily and a leave in. also love the beauticurls daily conditioner on days i don't need a heavier one -- i suspect in the warmer months it will be my daily. i like both the beauticurls leave in (lighter hold) - it never gets that sticky, stiff feel, so that is a big plus. i also like the curl assurance leave in,but that is being discontinued.
these are usually enough as both leave in and stylers for me. other days, i infrequently use the smoothing gelee, cccc (but never more than one day consecutively).
other stylers i sometimes use are deva angell and set it free.

Loving:

Jasmine's Shea Butter Conditioner and Babassu Conditioner

Darcy's Botanicals Pumpkin Conditioner and Tucuma Butter Moisture Whip along with my standard Coconut and Aloe Moisture Pudding

Curl Junkie Smoothing Condish + Beauticurls Leave In (great combo!), Coffee Coco Curl Creme Lite, Curl Rehab

For extra moisturizing condish I use Mop C Hydrating Condish--makes my hair the softest it can be plus it doesn't pull curl out. This is a new love for me with conditioner--but it might be too heavy for some wavies/curlies

And to echo what kathymack said Spiral Solutions on etsy which is Runnerchicki's line from here. Best Curling Jelly EVER! You've done my hair so you know what its like and I get tight root spiral's and full bottom ringlet's with this stuff. Amazing! Love the rest of the line as well

Welcome back!!!

For styling products, I still love the KCKT and KCCC. Except for the long drying time, they are my HG's.

On the conditioner end, I still use AOHR and Biolage Conditioning Balm. These two are the best I've ever found for my thick and thirsty hair.

I live on the west coast of Canada, and CG products are not easy to find. I wish Sally's would ship to Canada. $62 for a liter of Biolage CB is pretty steep!

Loving AOHR, Biolage Conditioning Balm, KCCC.
Another vote for CJ products. I love all that I've tried of them. But right now, I'm LOVING the Curl Fix protein treatment and the Daily Fix coniditioning cleanser.

I've used the Curl Fix as a PT, a styling product and a leave-in. Fave use is as a leave in.

Daily Fix is like shampooing without the roughness. Incredible!

Seek not to change the world. Rather seek to change your mind about the world.
I'm still with the same old stuff. My routine works, and I don't need to rotate, so I'm not one to venture much.

As much as I love the quality of the Curl Junkie line, many of the things have glycerin and panthenol. I avoid glycerin for the hair dye, and panthenol dries me out like nobodies business.

I am, however, using the Curl Rehab as my winter leave in.

I also use the Curl Rehab for overnight DT with Greenridge Herbals hot oil treatment on top of it.

I also sometimes use the Lustrasilk Shea Mango for my leave-in as well.

I still shampoo with the Kinky Curl Come Clean as needed.

I am detangling with Knot Today.

AOHR has been used pretty consistently this winter.

I am still alllllll about the KCCC.

I haven't ventured much into the cottage lines yet since most of them contain things that I don't use, such as proteins, glycerin, and panthenol/vitamin B5. These things are so common it's annoying. They must work well for a lot of people, or perhaps they are just easy to get ingredients.

I did order a KCCC clone to check it out, but have not received it yet.

Although I could use a fair amount of protein in high summer, I don't need any now that it's cold again.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
Good to see you back on the boards!!!

My hair is a lot like RCC's in what it does and doesn't like.

I am loving AOHR for the winter and as always KCCC.

I haven't tried any of the CJ line and just ordered some KBB samples of butter, milk, and oil so am looking forward to trying them.

I've also pulled my Denman brush back out and although I didn't like it at first, got great clumps yesterday. Lustrasilk Shea Mango is also great this winter with coconut oil for DT's

3b/c mix; mixture of fine, med. and coarse texture with med-high porosity

Current HG routine: Tresemme Naturals conditioner; AG Fast Food LI; AG Recoil; CJ CIAB = no crunch, lots of body and awesome definition

Curl junkie! I had the best hair days week with cj. This is my first winter really wearing my hair loose and at first I didn't know WHAT everyone meant with dew points and whatnot but I think I know now.

I'm VERY new to this CG stuff-about a week in. But I LOVE VO5 vanilla mint tea clarifying conditioner to wash with. My hair has had less tangles washing with it, and the scent is amazing
Hey Tiffany!

I just wanted to jump in here and say I'm loving some of the new CJ products. I think we had a whole discussion about how freaky picky I am about the cleansing products (you introduced me to the NoPoo, was already using the LowPoo) and I loooove the CJ Cleansing condish! It's an A+ in my book. But you've got enough A++ recommendations for CJ heh.

I just wanted to second Runnerchicki's products. She just opened her Etsy site last week, I mean seriously just got herself up and running, but I am impressed. She experimented with some of us and boy am I grateful that I got to try out her stuff. Her curling jelly is amazing! When it worked on my "easy to weigh down" waves, I was happy for me, but bummed for her, because I was sure that if something worked on me, it wouldn't work for anyone else!! haha! however, quite a few different textures (other fines, meds -- and even a course I think?) gave it high marks! I think we sold her out in the first day she went up on etsy, because all of us testers wanted MORE! I think the one common complaint was with the tighter curl patterns = it gave too much shrinkage heh.

In the very least its worth talking to her to see if you can try out her products I know you're looking for something you can carry in your salon -- maybe you guys can work out something. Oh and the PT is the best PT I've used.

You saw my hair -- her Curl Enhancing Jelly gave me overall even waves (the girls were telling me 3a curls lol) and 2nd day hair. Aaaa--maze-ing!

Not only the name change, but a few other issues. It doesn't have products, yet. But I'm sure it will soon.

How have I never even heard of runnerchicki making products? I did some reading. My own fault for not ever reading the specific hair type boards. I should start that..but I never know whether to post as a 3a or a 2 haha. Anyway, someone tell me what products she has (since the store isn't available yet) pretty please
