Deva Cuts vs Ouidad Cuts

Like Tree26Likes

I recently got my hair cut and styled at Ouidad in NYC. (I'm a fine 3b medium textured normal porosity CG). The first time was with a senior stylist who gave me light and super bouncy curls, and grew out lovely. My second time was with a different stylist who weighed my hair down by too much product and was unimpressive.

I'm calling Devachan tomorrow for my daughter (low porosity, high density, long frizzy swavy). I can't wait to see the results. I'll post a before & after .
Day 1 of Curly Girl method: 10/5/13
3b Mostly Normal Porosity. Medium Density, Fine to Medium Width, Medium Texture.
SM Y&B TS and Condish. Ecostyler with Argan oil gel.
Daughter: Long frizzy Swavy 2a turned Wavy Curvy 2B - thanks to Devachan, Low Porosity, Medium Texture, High Density
I had a Ouidad cut last month and this month my daughter received a Deva cut, both at their New York City salons. All I have to say is HOLY COW! Devachan on Broadway totally blows Ouidad away. I am planning to write a full detailed review shortly.

Devachan Review (never mind the title): Ouidad Cut Scheduled!!

I think that with curly hair you have to try it out to find out which you prefer more. I don't live in an area where people have curly hair like mine.
Personally, the Deva cut doesn't make me feel as confident and love my hair as much. After the cut my hair felt dry and brittle. Even the products didn't work as well. However I might try it again with a different and better stylist.
I've gotten about 3 different Ouidad cuts, only one was fantastic, but they all made me feel confident with my hair. I also prefer the Ouidad products to other products. I'm trying to get my curls back from years of straightening, so my main concern is does it make me feel beautiful instead of wearing a bun or straightening it.
How does the Ouidad cut affect hair if I like to wear it straight? Will it look "choppy"?
I got the Ouidad cut a few weeks ago and I've been calling it the haircut from hell. This is my second time getting it. The first time it came out pretty well, which is why I decided to try it again. Thinking back on it, though, it really wasn't better or worse than any other haircut the first time.

This time I had a different stylist, and he thinned my hair out way too much and cut way too much of the length off. Taking some of the weight out of my hair helped it to get some movement back, but now my ends look scraggly and my waves don't stick together. Styling is nearly impossible. Oh, and they most certainly do slice your strands up near the roots. The second stylist did that to me, and when I questioned it he told me to trust him. Big mistake. My hair is seriously so thin and hard to style now.

I think the problem with Ouidad is it's just way too one-size-fits all. I told the stylist I have fine hair and that it has much less wave on top. He took none of that into consideration. He just did the carve and slice like he would on anyone. I told him the rake and shake method tends to pull all my waves apart and make my hair look like straw. He said it would be different when he did it. It wasn't. Both Ouidad stylists seemed to me just to want to sell me products and sell me on the method. When I made it clear to the second guy that I wasn't buying, he didn't have time for me anymore.

But that Ouidad salon offered me a free haircut, so things are looking up!
I am curious..which is the better cut for curlies?

I myself am scheduled in Feb for a devacut at Beans Beauty in Wayne PA.

Just looking for more definition in my hair. I also would like to extended the time I go between cuts to save money so "grow out" is important.
Let me know your opinions fellow curly heads!
