Curl creams, gels, or mousse for curl definition?

I want my curls to spring up again and don't know which products to concentrate on getting. I'm using Mop curl cream but that might be weighing curls down, it feels producty. I was thinking about trying the CJ or Miss Jessie curl creams. Do you guys think I should try these or go to a gel or mousse?

I gave you a fairly detailed answer in your duplicate thread. The Ms. Jessie's products are expensive and have a lot of mineral oil in them--my hair hates it. It coats your hair and prevents moisture from penetrating the hair shaft. The CJ products are incredible. I personally don't need gel anymore. Especially in normal and low dewpoints, my curl pattern has become so strong. (I used to be wavy in the winter.) My stylist feels that mousse is very drying because of the propellant.

Thanks Kathymack, sorry for double posts, didn't know where to get the most help. I gave you the best description I know how in other post. You have helped me narrow it down to The CJ products. Do you think the leave in and smoothing gel will help or the cccc lite or regular?
There's a thread on the Newbies, Read First Forum started by Struttswife about understanding texture and porosity. A good investment would be her ebook. You can buy it on her website: http://www.livecurlylivefree.com/

I think you're making a good choice with the CJ line. You may want to read Marsha's blog and product recommendations for your hair. Here's a link on using the new products: http://curljunkie.blogspot.com/2010/...-products.html

I had great success with the Beauticurls LI, CCCC lite and Curls in a Bottle. I used it in Philly and took a plane to FL last Sat and used the same combo coming home Tues. It held up really well in the 16 degrees, -1 dewpoint here and the 80 degree high dewpoints in Floriday.

I have to tell you, most of us rotate products. I wet and style every day. I seldom use the same product more then twice a week. I also change products based on the seasons. Hang out on the hair boards and you'll become a product junkie, but a least you should have beautiful curls!

I love the Mop-C Curl Defining cream, but I always rotate my products. I never use the same thing 2 days in a row. If you've been only using the Mop-C, you may have some build up. Because I rotate my products, I've never had an issue with buildup from Mop-C, but I know others have.

One of the first things I learned from this site is that one product is seldom enough. I envy those who can get one product to work ... for me, I always have to use three (LI, curl enhancer and gel for hold). On days with really high dewpoints, I'll add a 4th product in - either Gel-les'c or CIAB. I use it as a serum. It gives me more frizz protection.

CJ is a great line. I'd be careful with Miss jessie's. The mineral oil does a huge number on my hair. It took me a long time to get my hair back to normal after using a product with mineral oil in it.

Type: 3a fine & dense, with normal porosity, terrible product junkie
ROUTINE: LI, enhancer, gel, plop with Curlease towel, serum product (either CIAB or Gel-les'c), clip & diffuse.
Too many favourite products to list ... I finally have my routine that works and alot of products to choose from. My product stash is huge, but well loved !!!
