Roots feel stiff, what am I doing wrong?

Lately when my hair is dry the roots feel stiff and I have no clue why!

Any information would be really welcome!

Also, why do only the roots feel stiffy? Am I doing something wrong?

What are you using? What's your hair usually like? My roots go 'stiff' when I OD on protein (Im mostly coarse). Tell us what you have been using so others can chime in.

Four weeks ago I tried the Mixed Chicks line and after 2 weeks I decided my hair didnt like the sulfates, so I went back to a sulfate-free shampoo.

I have been using DevaCare Low-poo since. But I don't think thats the problem. I also tried out One C. and it was allright!

My hair doesn't really like protein, the last time I did a protein treatment was over a month ago, so I guess that isn't the problem either.

Can it also be a lack of protein?

I am not using much else actually.
My roots get stiff from too much styling product. It's a fine line for me between too much product/stiffness and too little product/frizz/fly-aways at my roots. I try to SOTC as much as I can without wrecking the entire top of my head, but it doesn't always work out so well.

Deva low poo seems ok. It does have a cone I don't like (amodimethicone). Unless Lorraine Massey also changed the low poo to remove this a-cone like she did in the one condition.

Hair tends to stiffen with too much protein, not too little. Hair with too little protein will lose its structure and tend to go limp and lose curl. So my guess is too little protein is not the cause.

I would avoid the KC come clean for a while and see if the root situation changes.
