DevaCurl How To Use

Just bit the bullet and bought DevaCurl products and I am not sure how to use them.

Here is what I bought:

NoPoo Cleanser
One Condition
DevaCare ArcAnGell
Mister Right
Set It Free

Last night I cleansed, conditioned and gel. Air dried. Then this morning I used Set It Free to wake up my curls. Im not seeing much of a change in my curls. They still look frizzy. Please share with me how others are using these products.

Thanks!
Denise

I am a 3b and I my curls!
I have not used Set It Free or Mister Right, though I did make my own homemade version of Mister Right, using Lorraine's recipe from the CG book.

I use the No Poo as instructed, then the One-C rinsing it out completely, then I put a bit back into my hair as a leave in - think for me this is key. Blot gently and then scrunch in ArcAngel. Sometimes I plop with a microfiber towel too, but either way I let it airdry and if needed scrunch out any crunch once it's fully dry.

The next day I either use the homemade mister right spray or scrunch in some water to reactivate the product and kind of rescrunch my hair.

HTH a bit!

Hair Type - medium to fine texture, high porosity, lots of it, type 2b/3a
I haven't figured out MR yet or SMU. I've tried them to scrunch out the crunch, and on second day hair (dry), but haven't found the right combo yet.

I used to use OneC as a leave-in, but had massive buildup issues. I now use Deva B'Leave in as my main leave-in conditioner - I LOVE it! Very different consistency from most leave-ins.

For me - gel isn't enough to prevent frizz. I need a serum, like CIAB, or a cream, like Boots (lots of it). If I use that over a leave-in, and then a gel, then I am usually frizz-free.

HTH!

CG since 2/07 and loving it!
You can use SIF on Wet hair for add'l frizz control, or while diffusing. I've had the best results with Deva when it's done in a Salon. They would use a pea size of ONE-C as a LI, then B-Leave in, ArcAngel, SIF all on very wet hair & generous amounts of product (1/2 dollar amts.) I've never been able to duplicate their results at home...I can get close but it's never the same.

There are some good suggestions here on how to use Deva as well.

ok.. Devachan has two lines DevaCARE (for curlies with really dry, processed(texturized), color treated hair) and DevaCURL (for basic curlies). The green color on the CURL line think organic smell (lemongrass, peppermint, rosemary, etc). The yellow on the CARE line = citrus based so it smells cit. Its totally CG.

Now your products:
NoPoo: is no lather and a lot like cowashing and I've found that after using it I can go straight to styling its that moisturizing. On the days I dont poo I use their conditioner which is called OneCondition(OC).

OneCondition: is AMAZING!!! OC has sooo many uses: co-wash, leave-in, alone as a styler(its a defrissant and I have used it alone (no gel), and a DT. Its fabulous and packs in moisture like hell and isnt producty. It makes my hair very soft as well....

The gels are the soft hold (Angel) and the stronger hold (ArcAngell) which has a fab citrus smell and are light in texture/non producty, but other than that doesn't deliver the type of hold I need to withstand humidity and such. Not alone anyway, with KY jelly though it works very well! Its funny though because the conditioner seems to have a better grip than the gel. I dont use OC as an LI in the face of ArcAngell though because its heavy/ elongates me and I dont like that.

Set it Free: is like their light holding spray according to them and its supposed to also seal/lock in the mositure. It actually works well...

Mister Right: is their refresher for 2nd day hair. You're supposed to wake up and spritz it where needed and it revive your curls. I personally dont get 2nd day hair to be able to use this product so I've never tried it.

Heaven in hair: is their official DT and its awesome as well packing in moisture. You can slap it on your hair and sleep in a cap overnight, or even use it as a styler mixed with a little OC (which a stylist did with my hair yesterday and my hair was so nice and super soft.. there was a little elongation but I didnt mind it).

Now I see that some ppl found Deva to be producty but I have low porosity/thick hair and so it hasnt affected me that way..

Good luck!

Oh shoot I forgot B'Leave in...

Well.. the party line is that you're supposed to add it b4 the Angells because like KCKT with KCCC it acts syngeristically with the Angell and ArcAngell. Never tried it tho.

The process overall supposedly is..

If you use NoPoo..
skip OC(unless your hair still feels really dry, then cowash with OC).. add B'Leave in
scrunch in ArcAngell, SIF over to lock in..
Diffuse/airdry/hood dryer

If its a cowash day..
Cowash with OC
can use OC as LI or B'Leave in (depends how moisturized you feel your hair is.. to add OC may make it too heavy)
scrunch in ArcAngell, SIF over to lock in..
Diffuse/airdry/hood dryer

2nd day hair.. you wake up and a few places look jivey.. spritz MR and scrunch. Air dry

I can't add much that Naturalista did not cover better than I can but...

I wanted to mention that I simply live and die by Set It Free. I sometimes put a couple of squirts on wet hair before Angell, but I mostly carry it in my purse for touchups. I also use a few spritzes right after I diffuse. It is also the best of the best thing for me to refresh my hair with after I have gotten caught in the rain!!!

I use NoPoo without a follow up conditioner most of the time because I don't need one - sometimes a bitty bit of OneC. Angell is the gel I always seem to come back to regardless of what else I try.

Finally, B'Leavin is a little tricky but I found that my favorite way to use it was scrunched in as a midday refresher actually...not its intended usage but I found it very good for this!
2b (a fine 'n porous wavy)...and finally growing out :-)

Wash: Deva Low-poo
Condish and leave in: OneC or Suave Coconut

Styler: Angell or the Deva foam, sometimes KKKC

Etc: Set It Free as a refresher

Protien: Looking for one

I love hairspray...don't judge
