weeeeewt finally doing this for REAL :D

hi y'all.... i haven't been on here in ages, so i'm pretty much a stranger all over again, but i started going kinda CG in the summer of '08. i had just made a LoL donation in january, so my hair was happier and healthier than it had been in a decade (not to mention fifteen inches shorter...)

anywho, i never really went fully CG, though i did pick up some curl-friendly products from the shop here and have avoided shampooing as much as i can get away with (i have SD, so i have to shampoo from time to time, just can't avoid it entirely). i've never really been able to unleash the full curl potential of my hair, though, because it's so long and so thick. my hair comes down to the tops of my thighs, and in a tight ponytail it's an inch and a half thick at the base. it's just too heavy to curl throughout the full length.

i've been trying to convince my husband to let me go get it cut for over a year now. he's every bit as attached to my hair and its length as he is to his own (his comes to the small of his back ^_^) and is loathe to let my get near a pair of scissors. now, however, i am joining the job hunt and need to clean up as much as possible, and i've finally convinced him that cutting off the dead, raggedy weight in my hair will make it look healthier and happier and make me more confident, thus giving me a boost in the job-searching process- and he bought it! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!! *happy dance*

so today i consulted with the owner/lead stylist of the only deva-trained salon in my area, whom i've been emailing back and forth with asking probably way too many annoying questions. tomorrow afternoon i will get my first real haircut of my entire life (the girl who did my LoL donation chopped the braid off and sent me on my way, and my mom is the only other person who's ever cut my hair), and the process will begin. fifteen inches gone, layers cut in, and probably a huge reduction in the frequency of migraines to boot lol. i've got a bottle each of deva's low-poo and conditioner, and i'm excited!

my point, in all this, i guess, is to create a jumping-off point for chronicling my journey from long, beautiful, wavy, and frizzy-as-all-get-out locks to long, beautiful CURLS!!!! i'm taking before and after photos tomorrow to share, and i plan on adding photos as we go through the process. it'll be a while in between visits to the chair as we see how my hair reacts to the combination of proper CG treatment and a massive reduction in weight. but i can't wait to share it with my curly brethren!!!

here we go!!!!!!!!

27 MONTHS SINCE THE BUZZ CUT!

actually, my husband is darn near devastated..... he really loved it long, and is merely consoling himself that my hair grows fast and it'll likely be waist-length again by the end of the year lol

thank you all for the comments... i never expected it to be this short, but i'm falling in love with it more and more each second lol... i can't stop playing with it! XD

as for being able to grow it this long, i guess it just runs in the family. my sister's hair is usually between her shoulders and the middle of her back, my mom's has always been sitting-on-it-all-the-time length (as is mine, usually), and my dad's is down to the middle of his back as well. sometimes i think the only reason my brother's hair isn't long is due to his obsession with the military lmao... but our love of long hair has definitely carried on... as i've said, my husband's hair is very long, and my sister's husband wears his loose at shoulder-length. no short-haired kids for either of us! lol
