Can flax seed gel cause residue?

I've been using flax seed gel exclusively for over two weeks now. My hair is amazingly soft and sooo much root volume--it's great! But other than my conditioner (which I know for a fact does not cause me residue) it's my only styling product and I still feel like my hair is very coated when I only cowash! Honestly I'm wondering if flax seed gel is water soluble, at all:
-I have to use soap on my hands after I apply it else it feels like they still have something on them
-I overcooked a batch (worst thing eveeeer) and a big chunk accidentally glooped into my sink which has no plug. Got my sink entirely blocked, had to use a chemical dissolver to fix it!

I don't want to give up flax seed gel, but how do I get it out of my haaair! :/

I use:
Garnier Ultra Doux conditioners
High in glycerin conditioners
As much gel as possible
Testing out flax seed gel
Plopping, for around 30 minutes
Pixiecurl drying

That's odd. I never need soap to rinse it from my hands...and I also use it every time I wash (every other day or so). I use a very mild home made herbal no-poo when I wash and sometimes I just co-wash and I've never had a problem with my hair not getting properly cleansed of products.

If your hair feels coated, maybe you should do a low poo. How often are you co-washing?.....maybe you're getting over-conditioned?...I dunno but thought a bump might help.

And you used no additives at all? Very strange... What conditioner do you use? Maybe they don't like each other?

CG journey began 2/8/09 - 4-08-09.. and then mod cg 4/14/09 -... 03/02/10- Barely CG but I like CG products
wash with Low Poo or Poo
condition with GVP Conditioning Balm or CJ BC Daily, Loreal Color Vive for Color Treated Hair Thats Normal
Leave ins- Garnier S&S; Marrakesh oil
style with - Ohm SHP; KCCC- BRHG or Boots- KCCC- BRHG; CIAB; CCCC
Protein- GVP Joico K-Pak
Play with ACV
My conditioner is a fairly simple one, and every time I've had issues while using it it was all the other styling product's fault, so I'm thinking same thing here. Maybe it IS overconditioning! But ugh, I like my hair this soft...and it's only been 2 weeks, I can't see my hair being fully healthy that fast o.O

Is it possible your conditioner has polyquats?

The following is from an excerpt from this article:
http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlreading/curly-q-a/curlchemist-polyquats-as-conditioning-agents/comment-page-1

"The take-home message of this article is that products containing polyquat-44 will give you the best results compared to those formulated with other types of cationic polymers. It provides fantastic detangling and moisturizing benefits and detaches from the surface of the hair easily. Products with polyquat-10 are also a pretty safe choice for those on low-shampoo plans. It would be wise to keep in mind though that other polyquats as well as positively-charged silicones such as amodimethicone may be much more difficult to remove from your hair. As always, your mileage may vary, so donít be afraid to experiment with products and ingredients!"

Nope, no polyquats. I'm really thinking it's got to do with the gel since it stays on my hands too... at least it *feels* like it. Oh well, I shampoo now and then, I'll deal with it. Anyways it FEELS coated but maybe it's fine--I'll let it be for a week or two and see if my hair is good or bad from that.
