It's great to see other curlies choosing to gray naturally! I've been going gray since I was 18. It's been a slow process and for a few years in my early 30s I colored my hair. But, I got tired of how crummy my hair felt and the not so flattering orange hue that would come along after a few weeks so I chopped it off as short as I could stand and have been natural ever since. I'm about 65% gray and it's coming in all over so it blends in nicely with my light brown hair. I get lots of compliments on my haircolor (and curls too).

I've read that both long and curly + gray is not attractive, but I don't agree.

Thanks ladies!

It will be interesting to see what shade of gray it is when I finally make it to 100%. I have a feeling it will be pretty white.

Co-wash: Renpure Body&Shine
RO: Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner
LI/Curl Enhancer: Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner
Other: I'll add a little AG Mousse Gel if I want something extra.
Iím not sure at this point of one inch of gray root if we can truly tell if our hair is going to come in white or gray but so far I have bright white roots.

I have always been fascinated with black & white hair color and excited to think it may come in looking that way. Sorta like in this picture.

here is a pretty good recent picture, admittedly one that does not show all my stupid skin flaws and wrinkles.

so here i am now, closer to 61 than 60. keep saying that i will get the short gray hair and grow it out. i do not want to be like this 85 year old woman i know who has jet black hair and looks very foolish. i want to hang on to my youthful hair and the long length as long as it does not look totally idiotic. i am afraid to move into "grayland" even tho you guys all look so gorgeous with the gray hair. i am so scared it will look awful and i will be catapulted into looking 60+ which after all i am. i liked cindy joseph's look but i wont look like that, or like SBB or jeep or heidi. luckily i color my own hair single process so it does not cost much or require much effort. so i guess i am in the "journey contemplation" stage of the gray journey. you gals do look fabulous tho so i am thinking very seriously of doing it. if there was an easy way to do it and keep my hair long i would be much happier...

not wanting to be in very old age and having dark colored hair that looks ridiculous got me started many years ago, promising myself that i would stop coloring well before i reached that point.
and i did!! :-) and, lol, my 85 year old aunt who colors her hair a fake-looking red, was horrified when she first saw my hair!! and then proceeded to tell me how she does her own hair and how easy it is!!
i also stopped as i felt all the time i put into it, every 3 weeks, was a big waste of time.
i am very surprised at how much i love my new natural color -- white, gray and a little black on bottom and here and there -- and how many compliments i get!! i am very pleased with this as it did not occur to me that i would love the color and how well it compliments my skin. i think most of us thought of gray/white hair as looking very old. i personally think it is the style, not the color. don't we all know people who do not have gray/white hair, yet wear styles that make them look dowdy and old?

Well, I'm a brunette who is approaching 40 and my hair is becoming increasingly gray.

What I've decided to do is get all of my hair lightened one shade lighter so that when the gray comes in, it's less noticeable and not such a contrast against the darker hairs as the color fades. Those formerly gray strands simply look highlighted over time.

And my darker roots are NOT that much of an alarm and shock to the eyes of others when they grow in since I've only gone one shade up. Pretty clever.

I think it's a lot less hassle and work to go a shade lighter all over than to attempt going darker and dealing with gray that fades and refuses to stay as dark as the rest of my hair.

you guys are inspiring me. i am going to grow my gray out and NOT cut my hair which is waist length when wet. my color is now overdue--last coloring early june. i kind of like my gray that is coming in--softer on my face. ok i can talk a good game when i have a suntan--i dread it when i get pale tho..we'll see how much it can grow in 3 months....
