Cut and style are EVERYTHING, the difference between old and hip.

Running. As fast as I can! I'm 47, the greys started in my mid-late 30's, but with a vengeance over the last year, now 50-60%. ( I've had a very difficult year so the stress might have something to do with it). But we have a 7 year old son, and I'm just not ready for him to have a grey mom yet! And, I've been a red head all my life and it's a big part of my identity that I'm not ready to give up yet. I get my roots done in the salon, and it's getting shorter and shorter between appointments! But I do really envy those who are embracing it, I think it's beautiful. When I'm ready I plan on going pixie short and embracing it, but not yet!

On my iPhone. Excuse typos.
2c/3a, medium/coarse, normal porosity, normal elasticity
CG and covering the grey!
i colored between age 52 and 60. was not ready to stop until the face and hair just didnt match. you've got time yet

Hi, I'm 15 and I've been suffering with gray hairs since I was 12.
Sadly I dye my hair every 3 months or so. *sigh
I saw my mom over the Labor Day holiday. It was the first time she's seen my pixie cut and highlights. First thing she says in a whiny little girl voice is "oh no, don't grow out your gray!" Ugh. WTH? She's had gorgeous bright white hair on her whole head since her mid 40's. She always gets compliments on her hair. I thought she'd be my gray hair champion. Instead she's as brainwashed as everyone else. She brought up the bad job market and that people will start to dismiss me. UGH - again! She's pushing all my insecurity buttons! I think the truth is she isn't ready to be the mom of someone with gray hair. She kept saying she can't believe she's the mom of someone who's almost 50. Again - WTH?!

^ You are so right, Rustina. On the flip side I saw a woman (maybe mid thirties) at the coffee shop before work. She had glorious gray and white hair. It was super short in a really cute Pixie and the color was fabulous! I so wanted to tell her but it just felt too awkward with everyone waiting for their coffee. I just sent her "great hair" vibes.

Running as fast as I can away from the gray hair. I used to use chemical dyes, but these buggers are very resistant. Thank goodness for henna.

Im embrace it. Im in my 20's and have a few strands of grey hairs! I think its cute.

It actually runs in my family! I have a 17 year old male cousin who has a head full of grey hairs! Its crazy. I dont see anything wrong with it- I like ever strand and do not plan on adding any color to cover up my grey strands :-)

EMBRACING.

Like many others here, I colored my hair forever and it was not an easy commitment to make but once I did Ė I headed down the road and into a fabulous journey ahead.

Iíve done great with the natural curly thing years before and now I have healthy glistening white highlighted curls by Mother Nature.

It still amazes me why I didnít do it sooner.

I'm not only running, I'm in the witness protection program!

My problem isn't only the gray hair that started making appearences at 21, but the fact that my hair naturally looks like a calico cat's coat to me (granted, I'm told it really isn't that bad) I was red as a child, went to a reddish brown as a teen and then bleached it to Marilyn white at 16 (it was the mid 80's, sue me) and as it grew out I noticed it was coming in so many different shades and coloring that my OCD personality just couldn't handle it ...

so I chose the red of my childhood and similar to that of my eyebrows and have stuck with it! I do need to touch my roots every couple of weeks because of the weird growth pattern of my hair but I have no intentions of going gray gracefully or any other way!!

I just turned 40, I have a 19 year old daughter, and I usually get mistaken for being in my early to mid 30s and that is just the way I like it!!

I find it wrong of people to think that everyone with gray looks old.
I get mistaken for being younger *AND* that is with my gray hair but like I said it has to do with condition, cut and attitude to pull it off in a modern day vibe.
I continually get asked where I got my highlights from Ö I tell them after dealing with menopause this is the great positive that mother nature then provides . And thats the truth.

Yea, I don't get the whole 'I look bad in gray' 'Silver doesn't go with my skintone' 'Gray makes people look old' 'My white hairs are uncontrollable'.
And I don't get why only women look old with gray hair. Men must be magical because everyone seems to think they look great with their grays.
And I also don't get what's wrong with looking our own age.
But to each their own. People should do what makes them happy.

We are no longer the long ago stereotyped grandma women with the tight fizzy hair bun. We are instead the cool new gray haired chicks.

Embracing and been silvering since 20. Now 33 and very streaky with some "sugar" on top. Hey, you don't have to be "old" or age-appropriate to embrace it!

Embracing the grey, for sure! LOL, I have never been one to color my hair, and I'm not going to start now. I'm just not ready for that kind of commitment! I started getting greys in my early 20's and now I've got quite the streak where I part my hair. I'm 42, btw.

You can see it pretty clearly in this picture. It isn't the greatest picture of me, lol, with my open mouth. It just shows the grey streak very clearly.
