Are You Embracing or Running Away From Your Gray Hair?

I haven't colored my hair in almost 3 years, I think! All my grey is fully grown out. Sometimes when I see a picture I think I look a little washed out, sometime I think it looks great.

My issue now is that the grey hair is coming in curlier at the nape of my neck. It is a completely different (tighter) curl pattern than the rest of my hair. What a pain in the rear.

I have lots of greys coming in and, WOW, are they unruly. Resisting the urge to color...
I am defenitely running away from gray! I spend so much time plucking, colorong, etc. to get rid of it! I am only 44, and have been dealing with gray hairs since my 20s! As long as there is haircolor available, I never plan to let mine grow out!
Well ladies... I'm 21 and I started getting grays at the age of 16/17 when I still relaxed my hair. After i bc'd Feb 2011 I've dyed my hair again and again trying to cover the gray, I even decided to try henna ( Huge mistake, after the treatment I found out my hair is super protein sensitive). My point is that since I've decided to go curly my hair has never been completely without chemicals and I want to know how my completely natural hair feels like. Therefore I have not dyed my hair since october and I'm not planning to. Yes It is frustrating having 3 tone hair ( red, dark brown mixed with greys. Lol) but I'm proud to say I'm finally comfortable with my greys.
I've just turned 39 and have a smattering of grey strands coming through. I have noticed that the texture of them is a lot coarser than my brunette colouring, so although I'd like to be able to say that I'll grow grey gracefully, I can see that when they become more noticeable, the urge to tint them will take over!

There's a nice 2 page article of women with gray hair titled "Silver Belles" in the March issue of Town & Country magazine. Some nice pics too.
I liked this part "Silver Foxes are dedicated to looking great rather than looking young".

While looking at this thread I just had a woman walk in off the street (I work in a street level office with a wall of windows so it's like being in a fish bowl) and tell me how much she loved my hair and asking if it's naturally curly and if the color was natural. : )

Embracing, now. I had a dream that my hair was this silvery white color...like fairy hair or something. I loved it. I was disappointed when I woke up and realized my hair was still its normal color. Almost all of my henna/indigo is out, and I'm enjoying the gray.

@banjo - looks like you're about half-way grown out! What patience it must take to let LONG hair go from being colored to grey - I don't even think I could handle it with my above the shoulders lengthy - it would still take more than a year at least. Plus I like my hair colored.
My natural hair color is very ashy, and I never liked it. I started using henna about 20 years ago, and never stopped. I just like the richer color it gives to my hair. (Plus, my hair *loves* henna and is thicker and stronger afterwords.)

I color about 3 times a year

I do have silver hair around my temples, and the henna never covers those, thank goodness! If it weren't so bad for my hair, I would bleach it and go all silver!

What I really love about my grey hair is that it is much thicker and curlier than my other hair. I can't *wait* to be all grey!

Hair: Very fine, normal porous (Finally! Yay!), normal elasticity, loves high dew points.
Daily: Nature's Gate Tea Tree shampoo, GVP CB, Cure Care conditioner, aloe vera gel, Jessicurls products, Spiral Solutions products.

I am so embracing the gray. My hair has never been healthier since letting it go totally natural. Shoulder length now and still growing.
I'm 39 and not embracing the grey. Even at just 5-10% grey tops, I can't deal with it. Started coloring 7 months ago. I actually like the grey color, it's more silver than grey, but I don't like it next to my very dark auburn hair (I colored it a couple shades lighter now). The texture is different too, thick and course with strange bends unlike the rest of my hair. Is all of my grey going to be that way? Will I be able to style my hair or will it be going every-which-way? Not looking forward to having to figure out how to deal with my hair, again.

Not embracing. I just can't do it. I was a natural dark brunette but went blond when my hair turned mostly silver. It is much easier to hide silver roots in blond hair than it is in dark hair. I hated my roots showing when it was dark.

I tried on wigs to determine my color when I made the switch and found a blond color base that goes with my skin tone. People who didn't know me as a brunette are disbelieving when I tell them my hair was very dark. People who did know me when I had dark hair were a bit shocked but I would always say that the blond was closer to my 'now' natural shade... that being silver. Makes sense to me. I'm enjoying the blond.
I used to color, then it became brassy and I cut it all real short and allowed the gray to come in. But it got to the point where the grays were just not present enough to make a statement - they just tended to make my hair look dull and me look washed out. Now my hair is shoulder length and I recently started highlighting to blend in my 40% grays. My natural hair color is a light ash brown/dark ash blonde so the highlights work really well for me. They look natural and blend the gray without showing roots as my hair grows. At least it's working for now....

I'm ok with my grays. Last time I put any color in was in 2009. It's just too messy a job, so I don't do it anymore. The one think I can't decide whether I like or not is that I have a wide gray stripe of hair that runs down the back of my head, kind of like a skunk. I can't see it, except with a mirror, so I don't worry about it too much. I have noticed that the gray hairs are curly and am looking forward to having it all filled in.
I'm only 34, but I already have some greys. I don't see myself worrying about them. But who knows? Things change.
