Default graying and not coloring curlies -- need to use shampoo more?

For the past several months, my hair has looked and felt dull, dry, frizzy and brittle in the mornings when I wake up.

I've been using a shampoo product (Deva Low Poo, for example) maybe 4x per year. Is it possible that I need to work a cleansing product into my routine more often? Maybe I should try monthly?

Wondering how often those of you who are not coloring are using a cleansing product on your hair. And if so, what's your favorite?

Leave-ins: BWC, KCKT, coconut oil overnight
Styling: BRHG, MGA Sculpting Gel, Aubrey Organics Mandarin Magic Gel, LOTD AVG, LALSG

Do you have hard water, might you be due to chelate rather than clarify? Or maybe your hair properties are changing, now you have virgin not colour treated hair - you might need less protein say.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG, growing out mechanical and chemical damage = breakage and very high porosity. Past armpit length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut
Treatments: Komaza Matani, coconut oil, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss ultimate volume, Inecto argan
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Boots Essentials gel
Experimenting with: going back to basics

when i colored my hair and now, not coloring my hair, i low poo about once every 5 days (no sulfates, surfactants only). (years ago used deva low poo til they reformulated, now use cj gentle cleansing shampoo - a low poo). i feel it helps my hair look it's best, keeps products from building up, and it doesn't dry out my hair. i cowash the other days.

I don't shampoo more than a couple of times a month, if that. I find if I use the right products (I mean what works for my hair), I don't really get buildup. I haven't colored my hair in at least a year and a half.

i havent shampooed since june 2010 when i stopped coloring. my hair is mostly grown out now to its natural gray/brown/blond mixture. everyone has to do what works for their own hair. i cowash almost every day and use regular CO for a leave in and some gel. NO SHAMPOO for me!
