Different products now that you are silver?

So: are you using the same, or different products, now that your hair is silver? I notice my silver hair is less "coarse" (ie, not coated with dye); and may also react differently this summer, I dont yet know. What have others found?
I'm finding that the more silver that grows in, the more I've had to revisit utilizing gel to cut down on frizz which seems to be rampant with my silvers. I had gotten away with utilizing no gel when I was doing henna but that's over with the silvers that are taking over my head. LOL!

I have found that an old favorite (DIY flax seed gel) seems to work the best with my silvers. For awhile I revisited KCCC but that seems to be too heavy and for some reason it flakes whereas before (when I didn't have as much silver and I was doing henna to cover the grays) it did not flake.

My hair is definitely changing and needing different products to help me get the looks I am desiring...

Hi, belwillcoily. I too feel KCCC is now somewhat "off" for my hair. I have never figured out whether or not I have LP hair, but it behaves like it, so products "sit" on it. I have never tried FSG alone...I wonder if that would give me enough hold and frizz protection. Am currently using Deva Foam over Curl Keeper.

How long is your hair?
Myrna,

Currently my hair is about collarbone length, so it's not very long but it can and does look like I stuck my finger in an electric socket when I don't control the frizz despite the length. I can very easily wind up looking like the bride of Frankenstein silver streaks and all. Not a good look...

Flax seed gel has been a lifesaver for me in that regard. I make it in batches and freeze it so it won't go bad too quickly. I do have LP hair but I can be very generous with FSG without it flaking when it dries and get up to 4 day hair with it. It doesn't make my hair hard and stiff (despite how much I use) or dry my strands out. It's become somewhat of a holy grail for me. Try it and see; it could be your holy grail too.

I have it and I do use it but have not tried it alone. I dont make my own, I order it from Sweet Curls Elixirs on Etsy; I love her scents in the gel. Does FSG work even in humidity for you?
the only thing i've had to change is to seal every wash day. all the products are the same.

try it! the key with sealing is to always start with a tiny amount. my hair hates oils but loves ss emollience butter.

How much of the SS butter do you use, rbb? what is in it? See, I think my hair is mostly LP, and many products "sit" on it, and weigh it down...
if your hair is LP, then sealing might not be good. why don't you search out threads on the low porosity forum in addition to the gray hair forum.

Yes, rbb...LP's generally do not seal. Nor have I ever had luck with styling creams....same principle.
