So this challenge is well close to halfway done.. anyone wanna share comparison pix from April to now?

"...rationality is not necessary to sell things.."
My staples: Mane n Tail (cowash), Garnier Fructis Sleek n Shine (leave in condish), Grapeseed oil or shea butter (sealing), Organic Root Stimulator Elasticitea (leave-in condish & light hold)
I think since I dont have that far to go to reach my length goal for the year that im finally going to participate and do french braids but i still will be cowashing everyday. I think that I can stay on track until December especially with school starting soon, I wont have time to really be messing with my hair.

Hello Ladies,
I hope everyone is doing well with the challenge. I've been M.I.A. for a while, but I had some personal things going on that required my attention.

I've been keeping my hair in cornrow braids for the past two weeks. I love how easy they've been to maintain. I haven't really been doing to much to my hair other than washing, deep conditioning, and re-braiding. I've been trying to keep my hands out of my hair as much as possible. Here's some pics of my braids.

Current length: 5.75 in.

cowash: good job on the cornrows. How often do you redo them?

Afrodominican: I used to get the itchies like crazy too (when I was relaxed and wore braids), but now that I'm natural the braids don't itch me anymore.

Pulchri2dinous: I redo them every weekend. I may try twists for next week though, just to give my hair a break from the braids.

This article gave really good directions for cornrowing.

I have my hair in two french braids today using these instructions. A french braid is just a bigger version of a cornrow. The technique for each is the same.

I did a braid out and this is what it looked like.

afrodominican1 your braidout looks good!

I just put in mini twists tonight. Hopefully keep them for 2 weeks at least cause they took forever to finish!

afrodominicana: Love your braidout
xtremelyperfect: nice

I'm on week 4 of my braids! I feel like it's been forever. I'm cowashing on jogging days which is every 2-4 days (depending on my schedule). I start school next Monday, so who knows when I'll get time to redo them.

xtremelyperfect: You're wearing a great color. I always try styles that go in that direction, but never know how to hide the scalp in the middle. Do you find that your hair sometimes comes out with your pins?

I took out my braids last weekend and wore a puff for labor day. It was originially in an afro, but I decided to change it up. This was actually the first time I wore and afro. At least three people asked me what I was going to "do" with it. haha. I did twists on later on and just untwisted them earlier. I'm going to wash and DC later today. I think I might do cornrows tomorrow. I realized I don't like twistouts which sucks, because I could make that another style.

I'm thinking of closing my fotki due to all the viruses I've been hearing about. I'm not yet sure whether I should open something somewhere else or just continue to document my journey on my computer. What is everyone else doing?

ETA: the links are pics.

Afrodominican1- Your braid out was cute.
Xtremelyperfect- I always love your twists.

I had to end up cutting like half an inch off my hair . My ends were scragley so they had to go. That's what I get for being lazy and not sealing them (Lesson learned!). Afterwards, I box braided my hair. Here's what it looks like now. I took my time on them, so I'm hoping they'll last for a good 2 weeks.
