Nape Breakage
Can anyone give me any tips on how to get the hair at the nape of your neck (The kitchen) to grow even with the rest of your hair? My hair in that area is maybe half an inch long (if that) and has been for.....well...as long as I can remember.

yeah, it's always been that way. I use to get my hair straighten until I was 16, than I got a relaxer and now I'm Chemical free but that hair still won't grow.

info i picked up!
braid just the nape of your and it will grow super long! you dont have to wear about breakage due to friction of your clothes or exposure to the elements! when my nape grow that is my plan. i found girl who did it! disclaimer: braiding doesnt make your hair grow only retain length.

Honey, we in the same boat.
I currently take hair vitamins to help a kitchen out (GNC Ultra nourish) and I oil and moisturized that section dailiy to every other day. It needs TLC. So far, it grew a little. Like, to the bottom of my neck. Like where your shirt collar or necklace comes up to |
Found this thread whilst reseraching this issue! If you're still on the forum... did you discover something that helped? I get frustrated with that hair at the back too. I'm considering short hair and wondering whether to get an inverted bob (shorter at the back) and have the nape buzzed very short. Hoping it would help with rejuvinating that problem area and might mean it would grow back longer and healthier. Any opinions? Thanks.

I agree with allme89 I had the same issue and got so annoyed I cut the nape hair off lol. That was back in 04 I think but since I've been keeping it braided because I've been wearing sew-ins it has grown to my back like where my neck ends and my back begins. It still grows slower but hey it's growing

I use a mixture I call edge oil. Is 20% castor oil, 5% jojoba, and 75% sweet almond oil. It has the consistency of a serum and I apply it every night to my nape and edges.
