I think I need to add this to my reggie as well. I'm not sure what it is...but my ends are extremely rough, tangled and split to hell. I'm wearing buns for now and hoping I can retain some length. But unless someone comes up with another alternative....I might have to trim before going under wigs for the winter.
I'm also reexamining my products and listening to my hair. Like....I used Lustrasilk Shea and Mango as a rinse out this morning. I didn't notice any added softness or moisture to my ends. Also....no slip IMO. So, this may be demoted to a pre-poo treatment or mixed with my GVP Conditioning Balm for my DC.
I'm not totally happy with my hair right now....but I think I'm finally listening to "her" and not just the interwebs on what's good.

I'm joining the challenge. Here is a pic of my hair growth- slow but I think there is some growth. It was maybe an inch or two past my shoulders at it's longest point when I cut it last, in October 2009.
The line shows where my armpit is, since the pictures aren't the same size.
It's slightly past BSL in it's longest spot; I hope to get waist eventually but I doubt it. This is the longest it's ever been.

your best bet is to listen to your hair.
they say if your hair is porous it usually take at least month to fix. first try to see if your hair is porous by doing an avc rinse (1/4 cup of avc to 1 cup of water). just rinse it out and it should be the final rinse.nothing feels like it work until u repair your hair. if it is porous you would feel an difference immediately. as far as split ends go u need to baby them until u cut them they need to be constantly moisturized or all its gong to do is keep splitting your hair. i personally just say get it over with you'll cut them eventually might as well go into a commitment with heathy hair. my ends were raggedy and not split and my stylist didnt tell me this until afterwards and told my hair held moisture well (********!). im never seeing her again

Is it too late to join!?
I just officially started the CG Regiment today I got a hair cut (to even everything out) &used an ACV shampoo, baking soda wash& an ACV rinse.
I'm really wanting to work on growing my hair out!
Right now I'm not certain of what my regime is, but it's going to include:
Co-washing only
My hair seems to love protein, so I'm not sure how often to do a treatment, but often (what would you guys recommend?)
Moisturizing treatments as well, but again, I'm not sure how often.
My first task with CG is to get this nasty canopy under control. I have 3A hair so it gets weighted down a lot. I'm hoping that the curls on top just don't form well until their longer, because that's a possibility right? (:
Anyways, I hope that I can join in on this!

For the past week or so I have been moisturizing scalp with aloe vera then oiling with my oil mix at night.
I just DC with GF 3nutrition, pooed with Mane n tail, condished with GF moisture works, and moisturized with leave-in. I plan on sealing with oil mix then retwisting my twists with Jamacian Mango and Lime Locking gel.

I'm bunning for under a phony bun...so I'm able to baby and protect my ends better. I'm also baggying 3x a week. I need to get some Bragg's this weekend so I can start ACV rinses. I'm hoping that with this regimen....I can prolong trimming for a few more months. I can already tell a difference in my hair just from bunning and baggying all last week.
If you have enough hair to bun....or protect underneath a phony bun, try that out. I'm really enjoying this style. I was afraid I'd find it boring after sporting braid outs and twist outs all summer...but I'm really loving it. Plus my ends are protected, I'm not manipulating my hair as much, and the condition of my hair is getting better.

Thanks for the tip, but my hair is still too short for buns. I have edged out of my rut a bit with an updo thats not half bad. I'll keep the bunning in mind bc ill definitely do that when my hair's long enough.

Oh oh I wanna join!!!
My husband made a bet with me, as I always cut all my hair off. He bet that if I could keep from cutting my hair (other than trimming the ends when neccesary) until we graduate university I get to pick our honeymoon destination. If he wins... well he gets to pick! We are starting uni in 2 weeks, and it's a 5 year degree! Gulp!
Ok, my hair is in layers, the shortest right below my eyes stretches to my chin, the longest almost touches my shoulders and stretches to my collarbone.
I'm really new to CW, so I don't know my exact regimen, I will be experimenting and forming it as I go.
I do know that I will not use any heat (except for my sister's wedding if she wants it straight. Grrrr)
CO only, no 'poo!!!
I will use CG friendly products, and make my own whenever possible.
I will take pics and post them soon!

I know the challenge says no trimming....but I think I have to. My ends feel like cotton no matter what I do. I've been baggying, moisturizing and sealing, deep conditioning...all to no avail. My hair is super tangled (even though it's been banded under my phony bun). The only remedy I can come up with is a self-trim. I'm going to Sally's this weekend to get some Jilbere shears to make sure I do it right. I think that's one reason why my ends are so tore up....my last self trim was done with some bad scissors.
If someone has some other types for me to try before I trim....please let me know. Last night I baggyed my pony-nub with Jessicurl WDT and water; sealed this morning with shea butter. No changes :\

I think Im gonna wear my hair out for a couple of days( until friday when i have time to do it. These are the reasons:
my small twists are unraveling and tangling with other twists
my hair is slowing becoming a humongous frizzy mess
I really need a change
I really miss my big hair
If anyone can dissuade me go for it.

I know its late but I would like to join. I have decided to grow my hair` out as long as it will grow or to my hips (which ever comes first). I started a modified version of the tightly curly method about a month ago (I use a bit of KCCC over the conditioner). This has been working really well and my hair looks (and feels) better than ever. Below is my routine.
Once a week pre-poo with coconut oil before shampooing scalp with a mild shampoo (currently I am using Deva no-poo). Use Aubry Organics GPB as my rinsing conditioner and then apply Affia Coconut Shea Hydrating conditioner as my combing conditioner. Detangle with Denman and apply KCCC.
Air dry in warmer months, diffuse to about 85% dry in colder months. Deep treatments/dusting/trim only if necessary (I am hoping they won't be necessary as I am no longer causing damage to my hair).
During the week I will wear extremely low manipulation styles (for me that includes wearing hair down occasionally, I won't make it if I have to wear my hair up all the time).
I am committed to not using direct heat for at least the next three years. I am giving my flat iron away so I will have to shell out $100.00 if I want to straighten it (I am really cheep so this is a huge deterrent).

Hey Ladies
To everyone asking sure you can join
I have been trying out a few different products for the past two weeks and my hair loves cassia. It makes my hair so soft and I have more clumping when I use this. Slowly but surely I am becoming addicted to it. I had to wash with shampoo this week because I felt like my hair had a build up on it. I may have to incorporate a wash at least once a month. Which type of butter works the the best for you ladies as far as moisture?
Does anyone know of a good poo-bar or something similar?
I used sheamoisture's shampoo and it was ok but I want something different.

I may have to use this idea for bunning this winter for variety. I don't want to be stuck under a wig for the ENTIRE winter.
