Default Hair vitamins give more facial hair...?

That's what I heard from my mom. She said if you take hair vitamins then unwanted facial hair comes faster too...
Is this true? Anyone using hair vitamins notice this?

I really doubt it. Excess facial and body hair in women is governed by hormones. Some women just have a little naturally esp. if they're of certain ethnicities, but abnormal hair growth is the result of hormonal disruptions - excess testosterone like women with PCOS have. Hair vitamins are not going to cause excess hair growth unless yours come with hormones in them! Also, in my experience, hair vitamins helped speed up my hair growth maybe a little bit, but did not affect body hair growth.

Hmm that makes sense... I told my mom that I wanted hair vitamins so my hair would grow faster but she said it would also give me more facial hair... Which leads to more waxing/threading & more pain lol I hate the whole waxing/threading thing it hurts.... I was kinda skeptical of what she said cuz I thought it might just be a myth or sumthin. What r some good non-hormonal hair vitamins that a 15 year old could take?

Yeah no. You are'nt going to develop hair folicles on your face that weren't there before. Your existing facial hair may grow faster but your'e not going to sprout more.

LISA, are the Maxi Hair vitamins you're talking about made by Country Life? I found those while searching on Amazon.com (I don't have a Vitamin Shoppe near me.).

I like UltraNourishair by GNC and, also, I've tried the Dollar General brand - I found those work just as well and are a lot cheaper. I don't go to DG as much any more, and I need to add $7.00 to my Amazon.com purchase to get free shipping, so I might try the Maxi Hair vitamins as they're $7.99.

Hair vitamins, I will warn you, also make your nails grow thicker and much faster. That's a good thing if you like long nails.

For some reason, my hair and nails are growing very fast lately. I think it's the supplemnets I'm taking for PCOS - cinnamon, flaxseed oil, and evening primrose oil. I'm going to add hair vitamins to see if they make an even bigger improvement.

Yea I heard that nails grow faster too cuz of protein? I think the makeup of hair & nails are like kinda the same...
What's PCOS?

Yes - that's it, Country Life. I think there is a natural foods website that also has them for $8 a bottle.

Thanks, Lisa. CurlyIndian75: PCOS is a medical condition - Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. The supplements I take help to regulate my insulin manage some of the symptoms.
