I had actually been against hair dye for about 3 years, because I had damaged my hair trying to make it a Light brown/Dark blonde color. I had been doing some experimenting with honey as a humectant not realizing it has peroxide in it and it turned my hair an ashy brownish color that I hated. My natural color is very dark brown. So a couple of months ago I colored my hair black with Bigen. Its a deposit only permanent color, no ammonia or peroxide, so its only good for darkening hair. It was really gentle it didnt dry my hair out or anything and with me doing wash n go's almost daily, I'd say its holding up pretty well.

What are your current hair goals?

My scalp was inflamed and itchy and it had these weird sores all over and the back of my neck swelled up and was itchy with a rash on it. My back and arms also had a rash on it. It was horrible and I thought it was severe but when I googled "allergic reactions caused by Bigen I saw some girls had it really bad and I was glad for mine which turned out to be really mild.

I'm not trying to be one of those know it alls or tell you what to do or anything but it was scary when it happened to me and seeing/reading about the other women it happened to. And I've been using bigen for years now, I'm not sensitive to color I did some serious experimenting with it in high school so I just want to warn you.

I read that its because it has what is considered a high ppd content.

Okay on to your question. My short term goal is to be full WL. I think I'm touching it right now when stretched but I want it to be full, undeniable WL by the end of summer so I'm gonna length check it again in september. I feel like its taking me forever cus I have a long torso being 5 8.

@blueytuey I don't plan on using hair dye on a regular basis. I just wanted to fix the dry looking color from the honey. I saw a bunch on videos on YouTube about bigen giving people bad allergic reactions. Actually that can happen from using any hair dye. I just figured it would be less damaging than something that had peroxide in it.

How long did it take you to get to waist length?
I've decided to get rid of the cones and sulfates for the rest of the year and see where that gets me.
LOL@B "full, undeniable WL"

@Jeliah Its funny you guys bring this up because I just dyed the medium brownish ends of my hair black to match my roots or so I thought. When my hair dried I saw that my virgin color was a dark brown so still not matched lol, I have to dye the roots black too now so it doesn't look funny in the light.
TYPE: 3C
Current State: Growing out keratin treatment.
High Density, Medium Porosity
Length: MBL stretched
Doing what I want when I want! Getting tempted to bkt the nape save me lol
@jelilah I started my healthy hair journey at the end of 09 meaning no more bleaching or harsh dyes and cutting out a LOT of heat. I started at about CBL/SL

@trimix yea I mean I know I'm not the only one who will keep starring at my hair til it somehow just starts to look shorter lol. And I tend to sell myself short cus id rather think I haven't grown as much as I have than to think that my hair is longer than it is and be pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed.

This is my most recent length check done in may. What do you guys think? Mbl or touching Wl?

@ Jelilah I decided to not touch dye again after that incident anyway so it don't matter much to me anymore.

One thing I notice is that the tips of my hair aren't really really holding the color well. They fade while the middle stays jet and my roots grow in the natural dark, dark brown. Have you ever had this problem? Do you think it could be because of porosity differences in my old hair versus my newer hair? Or do you think it just means my ends need to be trimmed? I did my first self trm in around march or april.

@Bleuyteuy I don't know too much about porosity but I trim my hair about every 4-5 months so that could be what you need.
I'm only 5'5" so I would imagine my hair would be about 3 inches shorter than yours at waist length. My hair is cut into a v shape too so I figured when I got to waist length I would maintain it there until it was all even, but knowing me I will probably keep growing until it gets as long as it can.

I just like to be in control and having someone near my hair that's taken so much prayer and work to grow doesn't make me feel very much in control. Plus I know I baby my ends and I've noticed that a lot of people ends kind of naturally turn lighter.
@Bleuy my ultimate goal is to have my curls be bsl, if that will ever happen. It's only been about 5 day since I started the CG method and while my curls are getting more definition especially in the frizzy crown area and much softer, it's also shrinking a little bit more. Plus I've heard of some people that have hip length straight but still shoulder length curly.

You ladies are all doing so well, I suck for not updating, but I will very soon! Gotta take some good pics, keep up the great work everyone!
Ive been growing out to waist length for about 2 years now (from shoulder length straight).
My goal is waist length when it's curly. It's waist length now when it's straight. Still got a ways to go!

I don't flat iron anymore and the coconut oil seems to work best for me for retaining length!

I'm hoping to be there by end of year or spring of next!

Good luck everyone!
Hope I can join! I just started the no-sulfate/no (or) water-soluble cones on 7/26. I know I can't get my hair to waist length by the end of the year but I want to see how much I can get by then. I'll post pictures of my wet hair tomorrow. My goal is eventually to have waist length hair while curly. I rarely straighten my hair so minimizing heat styling won't be an issue.
