Here's my straightened hair pictures, and one pic of my hair when curly! I don't really need to cut it, I just need to snip some of the SSKs off, so I'll just trim about a centimeter!

I wanna join the challenge! Here is my hair now, my goal is something like... right above the tail bone when curly... so like, 5 more inches or so. I'm so excited because I'm finally taking the (almost) all-natural route. I purchased 4 pure oils, shea butter, mango butter and working on my diet. So my journey will be improved exponentially. All you ladies have gorgeous hair. I was creepin' through this thread, hahaha. )

It's been a couple months since I checked my progress; I feel like I've been hovering right around BSL and can't break past that. I've been getting my hair trimmed every 12 weeks to keep my shape/layers looking good - it's a deva-trained stylist and she cuts it dry. But I'm wondering if I'm cutting it too often to see the kind of growth I want? I know it's growing because I can see where my roots have grown out from some highlights I did last November (and I can see the overall difference in the pictures below), but I feel like the overall length of my hair has not changed much lately - it seemed to grow really fast the first 6 months of going CG, but not so much the last few months. I talked to my stylist about this, and she said that getting regular trims is important if I'm wanting my hair to grow - I get that I need to get rid of any damaged/split ends, but I feel like my hair has been really healthy since going CG and I'm not sure I need to trim it as often. I feel like all I accomplished with this last trim was to reduce some bulk/volume and cut off any length I gained since my last trim. I'm thinking about going longer between trims (maybe 6 months?) and taking some hair growth vitamins. Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions? *Sigh* - maybe I'm just being impatient

fine, dense, normal porosity/elasticity, dry climate

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!

My philosophy is if it ain't broken why fix it. So I never trim hair unless I see some split ends. So far so good but maybe I am saying this too early. Did big chop about 8 months ago. I use the CG method but don't believe in trimming hair automatically. Google this and you ll see quite a few that say the same thing.
Who's gonna start the 2012 waist length callenge ;-)-imageuploadedbycurltalk1348356550.612113.jpg this is the first time I straightened my hair in 6 months. After trimming I immediately washed it and went back curly lol. Trimmed about a half an inch. It feels like its growing really slow but I have trimmed a few times. It used to have more of a "v" shape now it's more of a "u". Anyway I say I have about 4 more inches to go. Realistically I should be at waist length by early 2013.

Curly hair update: so compared to June my hair still looks the same length. However I did trim it twice within six months. Since going CG my hair is a way more moisturized and I have better definition. Now that I have better control over my curls I think it will be easier to go for longer periods without straightening. No heat should mean healthier ends and less trimming so hopefully I can retain more length. Btw everyone's curls look great!!! Happy growing :-)
