I'm totally down. I've been growing my hair since I started my transition in feb 2010. BCd in feb 2011. I'm currently at SL

I'm drinking tons of water and I'm using MN a couple times a week. I mix mine with oil. I haven't had a bad experience with it except bn a bit more itchy the next day. In late nov I experienced increased shedding but since then I've been doing tea rinses and that's helped a bunch. Well this is my 2 cents happy growing.

Count me in. My hair is 3c and is a bit more than shoulder length. I'll be posting pics soon.
I use sulphate free shampoo and conditioner. I also use coconut oil, argan oil, castor oil, shea butter and I've done a blend with argan, jojoba, tea tree, peppermint, basil, castor, hemp, lavender, frankincense, Rosemary, carrot seed and ylang ylang oils to help my hair recover from all the damage caused by years of heat.
I also use my hair normally in a bun to protect my ends.
I want to have my hair by my waist in January 2013.
Good luck to all.

I am trying the following: green tea and nightly scalp massage with a mix of jojoba, rosemary and tamanu oils. This leaves me with nasty hair in the morning, so I decided to put it up on non-cowash days. This am I dampened my hair, added gel and tried to tie it back into two braids along the sides. Clumps immediately made their bid for freedom. Clearly not long enough yet. So I threw on a scarf and away as I had no time to start again.
Anyhoo, my mini-goal is to get it long enough to tie back in some form. Any form. Lol.

Hey ladies, I need help. I want to buy biotin to help my hair grow but I don't know which one to buy. I keep seeing 300, 1000, 5000g and others but I don't know what it means. My hair is 3c if that matters. Can someone help?

I think it's just the amount of biotin in each vitamin tablet. I take biotin just in my daily multivitamin, so I think the lowest value you mentioned will be enough, but some people say more biotin helps hair to grow faster. I'm not sure, because vitamins surplus to the body's needs are normally just stored or are excreted, so it's up to you. Any one of those you mentioned ought to help, go for more if you want to be cautionary. Hope this helped!

Biotin is a vitamin. The recommended amount is 300mcg per day but you can take up to 5000 mcg per day. 100 mcg is equal to 1 mg just for reference because certain brands with use different measurements. I take be beautiful by GNC which has 3000mcg or 3 mg which is really the amount you need to actually see a difference. I've taken this for about three years with great results. Thicker nail and hair. As far as growing faster, not really. I'm a nurse if your wondering where I get my info from

You can take the cheaper brand of biotin that you can get from target or Walmart but the fillers in those cause breakouts in most people. Yes they're cheap and of low quality. I like the GNC because it has quality ingredients. It also has other things such as alpha lipoic acid, DAME, and other things that helps. It cost 20$ for a two month supply with is not bad I hope this helps 😊

Thanks to all. It does help. The only issue is that I don't have a walmart or walgreens around here as I live in the UK. But I have to healthy stores here that sell it. Maybe they are the good brands. I'll try it as i'll be buying it tomorrow.

Default Let try this again...

Every six months or so I join a grow out challenge. Then within 2 months or so I see a bad ass haircut I want and chop it all off. I've been battling with this since 2007/2008... 4 years later I'm going to try this yet again.

My avatar to the left is my most current pic (like a week ago) so at the moment I am natural, short and extremely a light golden blonde (color is way lighter) on top; my sides and back are my natural color (dark-brown/blackish).

Since I havent cut my hair since Oct/November...I'm joining the challenge..

Wish me luck!!

Time to post my pics for the challenge.
1st one was taken on 31/07/11 after straightening

The next 2 pics were taken on 12/01/12 and it was a bit damp.

The last 2 were taken on 16/01/12 after a Icequeen wash but it was already dry.

I hope this works as I never uploaded pics on my iPod.

Default I'm in!

I cut my hair in a pixie in August 2011. I loved it (hubby didn't), but we moved to a new state and now I can't find anyone I trust with my hair. The last couple of trims have been a disaster! So, I am growing it back out. My goal is bottom ribs in the back while curly (What you see in my avatar!). This year's goal is collar bone. My hair grows pretty fast.

I hope these uploads work. The first is my shortest pixie. The second is 3 weeks of growth and allowing it to curl/wave.

I would love to join! Like hippiechic81, I'm trying to grow my hair for the millionth time. It's pretty much just like it is in my avatar.

I drink lots of green tea, take a b-complex, and just started DEVA omega-3 (I'm a vegetarian). I'm trying to drink more fluids...mostly water. I also do yoga daily.

I want to keep my layers, but I want to see how long I can get my hair/layers without it looking bad.

How often are most people trimming their hair? I have dry ends right now from damage still growing out, but they're not split. Will the dry, damaged bits move up the hair, or am I okay to leave a trim until I've got a length I'm happier with? Thanks!

I used to get my hair cut or trimmed (depending on what kind of length I wanted) every 6 -8 weeks like clock-work for years. Now, I try and wait till it's been 3 months because 1)To save money!!! 2) To help it grow and 3) I remember in the first Curly Girl book LM said a lot of wavies get their hair trimmed too soon and don't give it a chance to grow and get more wave potential. HTH!!!
