Default Gelatin

I've done some searches, and found out that a few people are/were consuming gelatin, either in capsule form or Jello, to either increase growth or to help their hair's condition. Just looking for updates - are you still taking it, does it seem to help?

I've been eating gelatin almost every day for the past couple of weeks. I'm sure it will take awhile to notice any results with my hair, but my nails are growing fast and are stronger than usual. I take biotin, too though. I've been taking 2000mg every day for a few weeks now. I figure the gelatin can't hurt and I love it - I'm vowing to try every flavor. I have a question that may sound silly - does it matter if it's Jello or generic? I bought a few boxes of Kroger brand when they were having a sale. I've noticed that sometimes it doesn't mix well - the powder isn't blended no matter how long I stir. I wouldn't think it would be expired though I'll have to check to see if there's any expiration date. Maybe I'll try regular Jello next time to see if there's a difference.

I remember when you could buy packets of Knox "drinking gelatin". It was supposed to give you stronger nails and hair. My mom used it. I still remember the picture of a nicely-manicured hand holding the glass of prepared gelatin, on the box.

I believe it helps in that way, as does eating adequate protein, but I don't think it increases growth rate. It might lead to longer hair in that stronger hair won't break off as easily.

Apparently they still sell the one you remember
I wonder if it's the gelatin or the biotin. Since I take biotin and my nails are no different I hope it's the gelatin. It should be good for the hair too.

I remember that Knox drink too! My grandma drank it. I thought about it recently and wanted to buy some, but the store didn't have it or else I was looking in the wrong place. Oh well, i like gelatin (in food form) better, anyway.

Yes that is more important to me than faster-growing hair. I want to grow stronger, healthier hair because then you have less damage and fewer trims!

My hair is healthy and it takes a long long time for me to get split ends. My hair generally grows slow though and since vitamins speed it up I assume I'm lacking in some things.
I did notice when I drank a lot of protein shakes during heavy workout times of year that I had more baby hair growth coming in. I guess I best start experimenting with that.
I feel like I get protein and my stats show I get a normal amount but maybe it's more bio available in the powder form. At least for my particular system.

Thanks! I'm going to check it out since my curiousity is getting the better of me.
I have a friend that has super strong nails and she takes gelatin. It doesn't make sense to me since I'd think it's mostly protein but hey whatever works!

Thanks for all the suggestions! If I get through the biotin and don't feel like it's done anything, I may try the gelatin tablets. What brand do you take cause I don't remeber seeing it at the grocery store? I'm pretty sure GNC sells it though.
