Hairpills-What do you take & how it works
I have been taking Phytophanere since 1.january.
My nails grow faster, but they have always been strong.
The main difference is my eyelashes & brows, they grow really fast & long!! I got 4 bottles of the stuff in Paris & I'll let you know how it goes.
Besides this, I also take a multivitamin (Spectro) & omega 3.

Yes, let us know how it goes! I've never heard of Phytophanere, and you probably can't get it here in the U.S. Sounds interesting, though. I've heard omega 3 fatty acids are really good for the hair and skin.
I take 2000mcg of biotin (B vitamins) daily. I've only been taking it for a few weeks. I also have been eating gelatin every day. I also haven't been doing that very long, but something is already making my nails grow faster and stronger. Someone on another thread said it must be the gelatin because biotin did nothing for her nails. I got a growth spurt earlier this month after I cut my hair to my shoulders - probably because I liked that style and had planned to keep it that length. Hair always grows fast when you DON'T want it to. Now that I decided I want it long again, it will probably grow very slowly!

Biotin did nothing for my nails but I might have a different deficiency though. I have taken biotin for three years now. I added in GNC's Nourishair. I used to take that once a day and I didn't really notice anything but when I took it the recommended twice a day my hair started growing faster.
ETA: I started taking silica too a couple of months ago. I take a few other suppliments for health, Magnesium, calcium with D, DHEA, general multivitamin, joint formula.
REcently my hair growth seemed not as fast but then I saw tons of new growth coming in. I think it's just that cycle of the year where that happens but I definitely have more this year than last. I've been the gnc vits for 6 months. My hair usually grows excrutiatingly slow and it's up to normal and in the summer faster growth than what they say is the norm.
My nails though still are weak and have ridges. I think I'll add in gelatin as soon as I find it locally.

I was curious so I looked and they sell Phytophanere on Ebay. A two month's supply is around $40. Hmmm, I'll have to think about this some more.

I started taking prenatel pills like two weeks ago. I'm not expecting, but I heard they make your hair grow(basicly they have more vitaimins that regular mult vitamins?) I cant tell a difference right now, but I'll keep you posted.
I just cant wait till my hair can do into a low ponytail again!

I got a special 2-for-1 deal in Paris. 2 bottles (2 months) for 23 euros, which is about 30USD.
For those who are interested in the ingredients:
http://www.drugstore.com/qxp49919_33...ytophanere.htm
I am sure my bodyhair is growing back faster ( I wax), but I don't know about the hair on my head...
ETA:
1 bottle is 2 months (120 pills). Sorry for wrong information!
So I got 4 months for 23 euros (around 30 usd).

The two things that are huge for me are protein drinks and a low dose iron supplement. Biotin did nothing, and prenatal vitamins didn't seem to make a difference. I stopped the protein drinks and iron for two months because my doctor wanted to do bloodwork, and during that time hair growth virtually stopped and my nails broke. I know for sure my hair stopped growing because I have some grays at the roots and they took a while to grow in during that time. Now, that being said, I am not anemic and cleared with my doctor whether it was okay to take the iron supplement. The body does not break down iron and it accumulates in the liver and can be fatal!!! Always check with your doctor when supplementing with iron. Protein is very important because if there is not enough the body will not send it to your hair for growth instead sending it to the vital organs and muscles. I currently take GNC ultranourish, gelatin, low dose iron, and one protein drink a day(should really be two, though). I also try to do scalp massage every night.

I am not sure if prenatals really make the hair grow. They're just regular multivitamins with extra folic acid and calcium. Pregnancy definitely does though! I planned my pregnancy so I started prenatals a few months before I wanted to conceive, and I don't think they made a difference to my hair, but it tends to grow faster in the summer anyway which is when this time frame was.

I take a these vitamins everyday and my hair grows twice as fast as the average speed:
Since the end August I have been taking:
1 Women's One a day
1 500 mg tablet of Silica
1 1000 mg tablet of MSM (apparently increases the length hair will grow to)
1 500 mg Evening Primrose oil softgel capsule
1 500 mg FlaxSeed Oil softgel capsule
2 600 mcg Biotin tablets
2 GNC NourishHair Tablets
HTH! ~~jax

It has some of the same vitamins, but for healthy hair you need the higher doses of those speific nutrients (such as biotin). I know it does seem like a lot, but i take them all after breakfast and I take 2 or 3 at time with water and its not bad, I'm so used to it now i kinda forget that it is odd!

Yeah that's what I'd like to know too, if NourishHair can be taken in the place of a multivitamin? I've heard a lot about it on here, but I take a multi and would be afraid of ODing it if I added NourishHair.

Thanks for posting, medusa. I posted the info for Hair, Skin and Nails below because that's another one that I'm looking at. THis way we can compare. I'm surprised the Nourishair doesn't have iron or calcium. You could almost do it as a multivitamin if it had those. I don't like that you have to take 3 pills of Hair, Skin, and Nails daily. If I took one of the supplements with my multi, I'd be a little worried about it being too much. I know that it's difficult to OD on Vitamin D, but I don't know about other vitamins. I'll have to do some research into this.
Vitamin A (as Retinyl Palmitate) 100.0% %
Vitamin C (as Ascorbic Acid and Rose Hips) 60.0 mg 100.0% %
Vitamin D (as Cholecalciferol) 25.0% %
Vitamin E (as D-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate) 50.0% %
Thiamin (Vitamin B-1) (as Thiamine Hydrochloride) 5.0 mg 333.0% %
Riboflavin (Vitamin B-2) 5.0 mg 294.0% %
Niacin (as Niacinamide) 25.0 mg 125.0% %
Vitamin B-6 (as Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) 5.0 mg 250.0% %
Folic Acid 200.0 mcg 50.0% %
Vitamin B-12 (as Cyanocobalamin) 8.0 mcg 133.0% %
Biotin (as D-Biotin) 200.0 mcg 67.0% %
Pantothenic Acid (as D-Calcium Pantothenate) 15.0 mg 150.0% %
Calcium (as DiCalcium Phosphate and Calcium Carbonate) 834.0 mg 83.0% %

CurlyMireya i doubt u would OD on nourishair with another multi vit , i was like u and only took the nourishair but decided on a multi vit to take with it. the multi vit i take is a time release vit so my body gets a lil each time thru out the day and i also, excuse my pun, go to the bathroom to release what my body doesnt need and believe me i release alot thru the day so that helps , plus the guy that sold me on the multi vit said that since there was a lil % of each vits in the nourishair and i wouldnt OD with the multi vit im taking now , been taking it for a few weeks and so far so good . i got a trim about a week ago cuz my hair was growing fast when i had it trimmed a few weeks ago before, plus with the nourishair u suppose to take 2 a day , i only take one a day , same thing with the multi vit , just 1 a day . i know ppl who take more vits a day then i do and they seem to be fine.

I take the one I do because it's higher in the same things. I don't take a separate one for skin but I do take silica and a joint formula.
The other supps I take are for other things and one or two happen to help hair also. LIke protein powder and my joint formula.
So far I feel better not worse but if I get nauseous I know I have too much of something in me. It always makes me sick to my stomach

I am taking Natrol vitamins. The label says you should take about six a day! Please I am taking two along with my other supplements. Has anyone taken this brand of vitamins before. I got mine from Walgreens. My brother sent them to me because the Walgreens where I live does not carry this multiple vitamin for some unknown reason.
